The Wheaton Academy Warriors lost to Aurora Christian on Friday night by a score of 28-21. The close game saw some late lead changes, and ultimately the Warriors came up short despite having chances to score late in the game.
The Warriors jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to
Stephen Garner's 6-yard touchdown run and a
Christian Pares 5-yard touchdown pass from
David Dorn. ACS responded before the half to tie the score 14-14 by halftime.
In the third quarter, ACS scored on their opening drive and took a 20-14 lead. Wheaton Academy responded with a touchdown drive of their own to take a 21-20 lead. Aurora Christian scored early in the 4th quarter to go up 28-21, and Wheaton Academy could not put a drive together at the end of the game.
The loss puts the final record at 4-5 on the season.
On offense,
Stephen Garner carried the ball 20 times for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns.
David Dorn completed 19 of 34 passes for 154 yards and 1 touchdown.
Jayson Rucker caught 10 passes for 85 yards.
On defense
Trevor Donna and
Jeremiah Staten lead the effort, each tallying 13 total tackles and 2 tackles for loss.
