Wheaton Academy suffered its first loss of the season by a score of 48-13 on Friday night to the 2-time defending state champion Knights of Immaculate Conception. Wheaton Academy fought valiantly over the four quarters of football.
Immaculate Conception scored quickly in the first quarter and raced out to a 14-0 lead. The Warriors responded with a 12-yard touchdown pass from
Ben Thorson to
Steven Ryan. IC tacked on another score which Wheaton Academy answered again, this time on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Thorson to
Noah Jones. IC took a 35-13 lead into the half.
Wheaton Academy's defense played well in the second half, limiting the Knight's attack, but IC was able to tack on two late scores to acocunt for the 48-13 score.
On offense, the Warriors were lead by quarterback
Ben Thorson who completed 15 of 26 passes for 186 yards and 2 TDs.
Noah Jones caught 3 passes for 65 yards and 1 touchdown.
On defense the Warriors were lead by
Jay Callentine and
Trevor Donna, who finished with 10 and 9 tackles, respectively.
Next week the Warrior play host to St. Francis. Kickoff is at 7:15 PM.
