Wheaton Academy Wins Big Against Chicago Christian

Wheaton Academy rode a dominant rushing attack to a big win over conference opponent Chicago Christian.  The Warriors moved to 4-4 with the victory with a conference record of 3-3.  The win moves the Warriors to within one win of the playoffs with a tough matchup against Marian Central looming next week.

Wheaton Academy got off to a fast start in the game, taking a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and a 28-7 lead into halftime.  John Gemmel accounted for three of the Warriors touchdowns on the night, including a long 56 yard run to cap the scoring in the first half.  Gemmel finished with 240 yards on 12 carries.  Camden Meade also had a good night, carrying the ball 6 times for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Warriors tacked on 3 more touchdowns in the second half, the final touchdown scored by junior running back Mike Silfugarian.  

On the night, the Warriors accumulated 495 yards of total offense, 406 of which came on the ground.  Quarterback David Thrasher completed 5 of 12 passes for 89 yards and 1 touchdown.  Marino Costello was on the receiving end of the touchdown pass, his sixth TD catch of the year.

Next week, the Warriiors host Marian Central at Wheaton College.  Kickoff is at 7:00 PM.
