The Warriors had their 3rd meet of the year, and this meet was held in 85 degree temperatures with a strong south wind. This weather wasn't the most conducive to setting records, but there were many great performances. Sophomore Jake Ryndak won his first meet of the year in shot put, throwing the shot 25 feet 7 inches.
Sheldon Powell won his second 3200m run of the season, running 10:31.81, 2 seconds off his season best time. Senior
Blake Wittstock broke the 5 minute barrier in the 1600m run, running 4:57.76 and junior
Daniel Kersey set a personal best of 5:09.86. On the sprint side,
David Li had the fastest time of the day for the Warriors, running the 100m dash in 12.56 seconds.
Brooke O'Carroll,
Cora Gregersen and
Emma Vega pushed the pace for the first lap of the 800, with plenty of competition up front from Harvest and Montini. In the final straightaway,
Brooke O'Carroll was able to finish in first with a time of 2:33, followed closely by
Cora Gregersen (2:34) and
Emma Vega 2:38.
The girls lead 4 x 1 team of Victoria Powell,
Whitney Gabriel,
Quynh Sedlacek, and
Morgan Mayo finished in second place, just .34 seconds behind 1st place
Both the boys and girls track and field teams will be in action on Saturday at Westmont vs Westmont and ACC. The meet starts at 10am.
