Boys Soccer Takes Down St. Francis, Earns MSC Title

The Wheaton Academy Warriors finished the season with 2-0 win over previously undefeated St. Francis on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Warriors secure the conference championship and an impressive final record of 12-3-1 (10-1 in the MSC). It was a day that reminded us why we love high school athletics: sunshine, lots of fans, and beautiful soccer.

St. Francis tested the backline early, Declan Finnegan (0GA and 4 saves on the evening) had a momentum stopping kick save in the 15th minute to keep score even at 0-0. The Warriors would take the lead in the 25th minute as Kyle Holwerda tracked the ball down in the box and cut it back to Rian Bautista for a quality finish. Bautista would find the net again in the 50th minute after drawing a foul in the box and converting the ensuing penalty kick. That would prove the final goal of the match despite good chances at both ends of the pitch.
