The Track and Field team kicked off the season with their first home meet on the track since it was built in 2014, and the first home meet in almost 50 years.
Sheldon Powell set the tone in the first distance race, winning the 3200m with a time of 10:29, then came back and won the 1600 with a time of 5:01.
Brooke O'Carroll won the girls 1600 in 5:53 with a strong final lap kick. Freshman
Joseph Urban won the 800m open race with a time of 2:17.
For the field events,
Josh Friedland won the shot put with a throw of 45' 1.5". On the girls side,
Apryl Tran had the best throw with a distance of 20'2.5". For the long jump,
Noah Herman had the best jump of 4.96m, and
Quynh Sedlacek had the best effort for the girls jumping 3.55m.
On the sprint side,
Thorin Phinney ran the 400m in 64 seconds, followed closely behind by
Christian Groves, who covered the distance in 66 seconds.
Sarah Miner led the girls with a 1:13.
