Wheaton Academy traveled to Kankakee on Friday night to take on Bishop McNamara. The Fighting Irish got off to a fast start and never looked back to secure a 48-21 win over the visiting Warriors.
Bishop McNamara jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, capitalizing on quick scores and Warrior mistakes. The Warriors were able to respond with a 95-yard drive, capped by a 15-yard touchdown pass from
Ben Thorson to
Noah Jones. Bishop Mac scored 3 more times before halftime to take a 42-7 lead into the half.
The Warriors came out strong in the second half and scored twice more, once on another Thorson to Jones connection and the other on a 2-yard touchdown run from
Eli Van Dyke.
On offense the Warriors were lead by
Ben Thorson's 200 yards passing on 16 of 32 passes.
Noah Jones caught 3 passes for 58 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Steven Ryan also had a strong night, catching 5 passes for 71 yards.
On defense the Warriors were lead by
Trevor Donna and
Jay Callentine, tallying 8 and 7 tackles respectively.
Next week the Warriors host Aurora Central Catholic for homecoming and senior night.
