Wheaton Academy Football Wins Homecoming Game

Defeats Aurora Central Catholic 35-7

In the first ever football game played on Thursday night during homecoming week, Wheaton Academy walked away with a 35-7 win over Aurora Central Catholic.  The Warriors jumped out to a 21-0 lead at halftime and tacked on two more scores in the second half.  ACC scored late in the fourth quarter for this only score of the night.

The first quarter was deadlocked at 0 as both offenses struggled to get going.  Wheaton Academy broke through early in the second quarter on a 10 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ben Thorson to receiver Noah JonesCristian Carstens, making a return from an injury sustained in week 3, scored on an 8 yard touchdown run for the Warriors' second score.  Throson and Jones connected for another score before halftime, this time for 12 yards.  

The Warriors extended the lead in the second half on another Cristian Carstens touchdown run of 1 yards and another Jones catch of 34 yards.  ACC scored late in the game to account for the 35-7 final.

On offense, the Warriors were lead by Cristian Carstens who carried the ball 14 times for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Thorson completed 11 of 23 passes for 135 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Noah Jones was the leading target, catching 5 passes for 67 yards and 3 touchdowns.

On defense Trevor Donna lead the effort with 12 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 sack.  Sam Palmer was the next leading tackler with 9 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.  Defensive lineman Derek Johanik had 2 sacks on the night.

Next week Wheaton Academy travels to Riverside Brookfield for the conference matchup.  Kickoff is at 7:15 PM.
