2016-2017 Boys Basketball Season Wrap-Up

West Chicago, IL

The Wheaton Academy Boys basketball team finished their season 6-21, 2-10 in conference play. In a season riddled with injury and illness, the Warriors maintained a never quit demeanor and saw a number of underclassmen gain valuable varsity experience.

The team graduates two seniors, Tommy Blum and Jameson Teuscher. Blum was an MSC All-Conference player during the 2015-2016 season but a torn ACL in the last open gym of the preseason brought his season to a close before it began. Team captain, Jameson Teuscher made 35 3-pointers on the season, including a 5 3-point game against Marengo in the Burlington Central MLK tournament. His defensive intensity and hard work will be missed.

JD Gunn earned all-conference honors in the 2016-2017 basketball season. In his Junior campaign, the 6'4" versatile guard averaged 11.9 PPG, 9.4 RPG, and 4.1 APG in Metro Suburban Blue Conference play. In the MSC, he had 4 double-doubles and shot nearly 50% from the floor. Gunn, also a team captain, received honorable mention honors for the DuPage County all-area team.

The future is bright for the young Warrior team. They will return 88% of their scoring and will lose only one senior, Jameson Teuscher, from the starting lineup. Along with a number of returning varsity players, members of the freshman and sophomore team will be competing to make an impact at the varsity level next season.

The coaching staff would like to thank the parents, fans, and Wheaton Academy faculty and staff for their support this season.
