Wheaton Academy shares that Coach
Daniel Smith has announced his resignation as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Wheaton Academy. After prayerful consideration, Coach Smith believes this is the right time to step away and pursue the next chapter God has for him. We are grateful that Daniel will continue to contribute to our school community as a math teacher next year.
Coach Smith shared:
"After much prayer and reflection, I will be stepping down as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Wheaton Academy to invest more time with my family during this season of life. Coaching these young men has been a privilege, and I am grateful for the players, families, and colleagues who have supported me throughout my time here."
We are deeply grateful for Coach Smith's commitment to developing student-athletes as competitors, teammates, and followers of Christ. His leadership has strengthened our basketball culture and has made a lasting impact on the lives of many young men.
Since taking over the program in 2022–23, Coach Smith has led the team with excellence, including:
- 74 wins and 47 losses over four seasons
- A .612 winning percentage
- 2025–26 IHSA Regional Championship (Class 3A)
