The Warriors captured the first ever class 2A third place trophy for Wheaton Academy on Saturday. After falling in the semis, the Warriors picked themselves up and performed well to finish the season as 3rd in State. The Warriors fell behind on a counter attack goal from St. Patrick in the 20th minute. The group didn't trail for long as
Grayson Harris scored on a low driven strike that knotted the score at 1-1. After halftime it was
Seamus Kilgallon who netted his second goal of the weekend off a crafty and clever pass from
Owen Setran. The game broke up with under ten minutes to play as
Jack Kilgallon found
Luke Holwerda over the top for a brilliant finish and a 3-1 lead. It was then
Luke Holwerda again as
Owen Setran set up another goal as the Warriors started to pull away. With under a minute on the clock, and in the season, the Warriors'
Quinn Partain scored a near post strike that sealed the 5-1 victory.
JD Gunn was stellar in the goal as he has been all year. The Warriors wrap up a brilliant 2017 season that surprised a lot of people. The boys, their families, the coaches, the fans, and the school should be proud of the 2017 campaign. Congratulations to all involved! ST.
