WA vs. Raby

Wheaton Academy Football Downs Chicago Christian

Team moves to 3-0 with 46-6 win

Wheaton Academy won its third game of the season, dominating Chicago Christian 46-6.  The Warriors used a huge second quarter to take a 40-0 lead into halftime and were able to run the clock quickly in the second half to secure the win.  The 3-0 start marks the 3rd year in a row the Warriors have opened the first 3 games undefeated.

Wheaton Academy got on the board on its first drive of the game thanks to a Harrison Taylor 17-yard touchdown run.  After a stout defensive effort in the first quarter (allowing only 42 total yards in the entire first half), the Warriors were able to pour it on in the second quarter.  Ben Thorson connected with receiver Noah Jones for two touchdown passes of 20 yards and 50 yards, and three different running backs scored: Taylor from 5 yards, Dimitrie Skakavac from 1, and Kent Harmon from 32 yards out.

In the third quarter Wheaton Academy immediately drove the length of the field on the strength of Cristian Carstens runs, and Miles VanderKlok scored on a 14 yard touchdown run.    The clock ran for all of the second half, and the Warriors let up a late touchdown to account for the 46-6 final score.

On offense, the ground game was lead by Kent Harmon, who carried the ball 9 times for 117 yards and 1 TD.  Harrison Taylor had 5 carries for 2 TDs and another 2 catches for 27 yards.  Quarterback Ben Thorson completed 6 of 13 passes for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns.

On defense, the Warriors were lead by defensive end Mitch Brunner, who had 5 total tackles, 1 TFL and 1 sack.  Dimitrie Skakavac also pitched in on the dominant defensive effort with 5 total tackles and 1.5 TFLs.

Next week Wheaton Academy returns home to take on the Tigers of Elmwood Park.  Kickoff is at 7:15 PM.
