West Chicago IL
The Warriors hosted St. Edwards in a conference matchup on the campus of Wheaton Academy Friday night and won 45-43. The Warriors won at St. Eds earlier in the year, 59-49. However, on Friday WA struggled to generate offensive production, leading 8-5 at the end of the first quarter. All points came in the post, with
Tommy Blum,
JD Gunn and
Anthony Polinski leading the charge. Gunn added two more buckets before half time but remained tied 14-14 in the low scoring contest.Â
  In the third,
Jameson Teuscher hit two three pointers, the first of the night for WA, but trailed 27-28. With 3:34 remaining in the fourth quarter, and the Warriors in the bonus, Polinski converted a three pointer, and followed on the next possession with an hard fought offensive rebound and putback. Polinski added points from the free throw line going 6-6 in the fourth quarter alone. Every point was necessary to give WA the three point win by the final buzzer.
The Warriors have won 5 of their last 7 games, and play next Friday, February 12 at 7:30 pm, home versus IC Catholic Prep.Â
