The Wheaton Academy Warrior football team lost a hard-fought battle on Friday night, falling to the Raiders of Glenbard South by a score of 28-14. The closely contested, physical game saw the Warriors take a lead into the 4th quarter, only to have Glenbard South pull away late into the game. The loss makes the Warriors 4-2 on the season.
Glenbard South got on the board first, scoring on their opening drive of the game to make it 7-0. Wheaton Academy answered early in the second quarter thanks to a 60-yard touchdown pass from quarterback

Mikey Alfano. Wheaton Academy scored again on their next drive on a 36-yard completion from Thorson to tight end
Noah Jones to make the score 14-7. The Warriors took that lead into halftime.
In the second half, Wheaton Academy held tightly to the lead until late in the third quarter when the Raiders were able to punch one in. A missed extra point meant that the Warriors still lead by a score of 14-13. With 8 minutes left in the fourth, Glenbard South scored on a 4th down touchdown pass, and after converting a 2-point conversion lead 21-14. The Warriors offense stalled for much of the 2nd half, and the Raiders tacked one on late in the 4th quarter to make it a 28-14 final.
On offense, Thorson completed 15 of 35 passes for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Noah Jones lead the team in receiving, catching 8 passes for 113 yards and 1 touchdown.
Mikey Alfano caught 3 passes for 95 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Warriors played tough defense all night and were lead by linebacker
Dimitrie Skakavac, who recorded 16 total tackles. Linebacker
Nori Kasai had 7 tackles with 5 tackles for loss.
Mitch Brunner also had a good night, tallying 7 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.
Next week Wheaton Academy will travel to play Immaculate Conception. Kickoff is at 7:15 PM.
