Wheaton Academy loses road contest against Aurora Central Catholic

West Chicago    1/5/16

The Wheaton Academy Warriors traveled to west to face the Chargers of Aurora Central Catholic for their first conference game of the new year. The Warriors had a slow start plagued by turnovers, scoring only 5 points in the first quarter, but kept things close primarily due to stingy defense. The teams battled back and forth the rest of the first half; the Warriors offense led by senior Anthony Polinski attacking the rim and getting the the free throw line. The Warriors battled back in the second half cutting the lead to four, but could never seem to get over the hump. The Chargers got timely buckets on offense and continued to force turnovers on defense, keeping the Warriors comeback at bay. The Chargers made their free throws down the stretch, and the final score was ACC 59   WA 49. Anthony Polinski led all scorers with a game high 26 points, going 7-7 from the free throw line.

Wheaton Academy plays their next game at home this Friday, January 8th, at 7:30pm. The team would love your support!
