Warriors lose road matchup against Riverside Brookfield

West Chicago,  1/29/16

The Warriors opened up the second half of their conference season against Riverside Brookfield tonight in Brookfield, the second times the two teams have met. Things started badly for Wheaton Academy, as RB jumped out to a 16-2 point lead in the opening 3 minutes. The Warriors could have folded, but they battled back. Senior Luke Manske helped spark the Warriors comeback with three 3 point field goals, and Wheaton Academy cut the lead to 5 at the half, despite a strong scoring night from RB's Skyler Nash.

The second half started totally different, and the Warriors were in control. Junior Tommy Blum had 10 points in the third quarter, and was going to work inside practically scoring at will. Senior Anthony Polinski added 10 points of his own in the second half, and the Warriors found themselves with a 54-52 point lead with 5 minutes to go in the game. The Warriors were handling the defensive pressure put on by Riverside Brookfield, finishing with just over 10 turnovers for the game. The atmosphere was electric, and our Wheaton Academy guys were playing tough and playing together.

Down the stretch, Riverside Brookfield converted tough shot attempts and made their free throws, pulling away in the final minutes to win by double digits.

Wheaton Academy's next game is Tuesday February 2 at 7:30 on the road at Aurora Christian High School. The team would love your support.
