Matthews, NC--Sharpshooting sophomore
Josh Ruggles caught fire Monday evening against Covenant Day School (NC) outside of Charlotte in a 64-53 Warrior win. Ruggles heated up in the second quarter, making all but one of his shot attempts to score 15 second quarter points and lead the Warriors to a 20-point, 44-22 halftime lead.
A sizable Covenant Day squad battled hard against Wheaton Academy, but in the end were unable to answer the Warriors' defensive pressure and offensive persistence. WA ran very disciplined half court offense and executed well.
In addition to Ruggles' 19 points,
Collin Roy and
Gordon Behr contributed 11 points each. The win improves the Warriors record to 12-3 and concludes the game portion of the team's North Carolina Winterim trip.
The team will visit the Billy Graham Library tomorrow then participate in a service project with Samaritan's Purse before flying home from Raleigh on Wednesday morning.
