Boys Basketball:
12/14 vs Aurora Central Catholic: The Wheaton Academy Boys Basketball team bounced back from Saturday's loss to Naperville North with a big win over Aurora Central Catholic Tuesday night. Defense and three point shooting was key for the Warriors as they held Aurora Central Catholic to just 11 points through three quarters, including just one 2nd quarter point. On the evening WA shot 56% from behind the arc and forced 18 turnovers. Sam Anderson led the way with 11 points and seven other Warriors scored at least five points to lead a balanced attack. The win brings Wheaton Academy back to .500 with a 4-4 record and 1-1 in conference play. They return to action Friday night when they host Chicago Christian.

12/16 vs Chicago Christian: WA Boys Basketball capped off the the end of the first semester with a 52-39 win over MSC conference foe Chicago Christian on Friday night. The Warriors started slow as Chicago Christian (1-9) took a 14-12 lead after the first quarter. A strong defensive effort in the second quarter, holding the knights to just 5 points helped WA take a five point lead into the break. The Warriors kept their foot on the gas in the second half and raced to a 13 point victory. Senior Sam Anderson led the Warriors with 17 points while Wade Davis, Cole Andrews, and Adam Baarman all chipped in 8 points of their own. The win brings above .500 with a 5-4 record and 2-1 in conference play. They return to action Monday, 12/27, when they open play in the East Aurora Holiday Tournament against Neuqua Valley.

Wrestling:
12/15 vs Aurora Central Catholic/Riverside Brookfield: The Wrestling team returned to MSC Conference play on Wednesday when they hosted Aurora Central Catholic and Riverside Brookfield. Aurora Central Catholic fielded just four wrestlers leading to many forfeited wins and a blowout Wheaton Academy victory 64-12. WA was scheduled to wrestle Ridgewood but due to unforeseen circumstances they were no longer able to attend the meet so they took on Riverside Brookfield for the second time this year in some exhibition matches. Against a strong Riverside Brookfield team the boys battled hard but ultimately fell by a score of 48-30. The boys got pins from several wrestlers that included Hunter Kazmierczak, Will Anliker, Daniel Kersey, Will Hupke, and Peter Johanik.Â
12/17 @ Stillman Valley Invite: On Saturday morning the WA Wrestling team made the long trip up North to take on The Stillman Valley Invitational. Overall, it was a successful day for several individuals and the team. The team finished 5th place overall out of 11 teams in the invitational. Some individual performances were highlighted by Senior
Peter Johanik who won the 220lb group and Sophomore Will Hupke who won the 120lb weight class. Other Warriors who also made the podium included
Daniel Kersey who finished 5th in the 132lb class, Will Anliker who finished 2nd in the 138lb,
Caden Smith who finished 4th in the 152lb, and
Hunter Kazmierczak who finished 2nd in the 182lb. The Warriors will enjoy some time off for the Holidays before returning home on 12/30 to host a non-conference triangle with Waukegan and Nazareth Academy.
