Wheaton Academy Boys Basketball Falls to ACC at home

West Chicago, IL. -

The Wheaton Academy Boys Basketball team fell to a hot-shooting ACC team at home on Senior night 62-47.

ACC opened the game with a 23 point 1st quarter, shooting well from inside and outside the arc. WA played well on offense, lead by a huge 3-pointer by senior Luke Ledesma to keep WA close, only trailing 23-12.

In the second quarter, the Warriors game plan to get the ball in the post was evident. Sam Scharnowski and Anthony Polinski each had hard earned buckets in down low. ACC remained hot shooting, but the Warriors shut down defense held ACC to only 10 pts in the 2nd. But the Warriors still trailed 33-27 at half. WA shot 50% from the field as well as the free throw line.

The third quarter, proved to be a challenge in the post for WA. Only putting up 5 shots from down low, but getting to the free throw line. 3-pointers from Dan Vasko and Luke Manske helped keep WA close, trailing 37-45.

However in the fourth quarter, the lead proved to be too much for WA to overcome, the game ended 62-47 in favor of ACC.

The Warriors have two games remaining before post season play begins. Wheaton Academy travels to Fenton on Friday February 19. The Warriors won the first conference matchup in early January.
