Warriors defeat ICCP 51-49

West Chicago, 2/11/16

Wheaton Academy boys started off strong in the first quarter against ICCP, and never looked back. J.D. Gunn had a monster 1st quarter scoring 12 of the Warriors 14, hitting shots from both the outside and in the paint. The Warriors played agressive team defense, and controlled the pace on the offensive end. Anthony Polinski knocked down a pair of threes in the second quarter to extend the lead, and Wheaton Academy went to the locker room at half up 30-25.

ICCP started the second half with a zone, and they quickly regretted it. Senior Luke Manske and Anthony Polinski hit back to back threes to extend the lead to double digit, and Luke Ledesma got in on the action with a steal and break away layup to win momentum.

ICCP was not going down with out a fight, and they clawed their way back to tie up the game with 2 minutes left. The Warriors were in the bonus, took care of the ball, and knocked down key free throws at the end to fight off the opposing teams comeback. Great win for Wheaton Academy.

JD Gunn led all scorers with 22 points.

Wheaton Academy plays ACC on Tuesday at 7:30 at home. It is senior night, and the last home game of the season. The team would love your support!
