The Wheaton Academy boys basketball team suffered a hard fought, 66-61, conference road loss to ACC in their last game of 2016 calendar year. With the loss the Warriors are now 2-2 in the Metro Suburban Blue division. The Warriors erased a 16 point second quarter deficit to pull within 2 to end the third quarter. In the second half, it was a collective team effort attacking the rim, attacking the boards, and tightening up defensively that allowed the Warriors to claw back into the game. Wheaton Academy would take a 53-51 lead in the fourth quarter but timely buckets by ACC would allow the Chargers to regain the lead before making 5-6 free throws down the stretch to earn the victory.
It was a team effort by the Warriors on both the offensive and defensive end of the floor.
JD Gunn led the Warriors with 22 points, scoring in a myriad of ways.
Stephen Garrison's presence was felt on both ends of the floor as he attacked the glass and chipped in 12 points.
Jack Dykema and
Marcus Bult each had 10 and 8 points respectively.
The Warriors will be back in action on January 3 at West Chicago. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
