Wheaton, IL--Wheaton Academy disrupted St. Francis' senior night celebrations on Wednesday night with a 46-44 win over the Spartans. The Warriors got off to a great start, leading 11-0 to start the game and playing outstanding defense. After the first quarter, WA led 14-4 and it looked like the Warriors could run away with the game. However, the Spartans responded in the second period, outscoring WA 19-7 to take a 23-21 lead at the half.Â
Josh Ruggles stepped up to make some big shots in the second half, while
Gordon Behr returned to action in the second half after only playing 3 minutes in the first half due to foul trouble. The very physical game went back-and-forth in the second half with both teams making crucial plays.Â
Wheaton Academy led by one point, 36-35 entering the fourth quarter and from there battled hard with the Spartans to eventually come away with the 46-44 win.Â
Gordon Behr led all scores for the Warriors with 15 points and 8 rebounds while
Josh Ruggles went 4-for-6 from three-point range and totaled 14 points. Will Burdett played solid defensive minutes before fouling out, and junior

Wednesday's win improves Wheaton Academy's overall record to 18-8. They will face Marmion Academy at home on Friday night--Senior Night-- at 7:30 PM
