Ruggles Nets 33 in Win over ACC

.
Aurora, IL--In case you haven't heard by now, Josh Ruggles can shoot. He can really shoot the ball. The six-foot-one-inch junior guard and reigning Illinois three-point champion drained 9 three-point shots on 10 attempts for the night in Wheaton Academy's 63-42 win over Aurora Central Catholic.

Ruggles started his shooting spree in the first quarter with two three-pointers and a field goal to lead his team to a 17-9 first quarter lead. He repeated that scoring pattern in the second quarter while adding two free throws to the mix. Despite the offensive surge, Wheaton Academy gave up an inordinate amount of second chance points to the Chargers, who took advantage of those opportunities to make it only a 37-22 game at the half.

Jacob Lindstedt continued his aggressive post play in the game, racking up 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Josh Ruggles kept confidently stroking five more three-pointers in the second half to total a game-high 33 points on the night.

Monday night's win improves the Warriors' record to 14-7 on the season. The team will face Walther Lutheran next at home on Thursday, February 13 at 7:30 PM.
