Wheaton Sweeps Streamwood

Coach Pete Froedden and the Wheaton Academy Warriors opened up their season today with a solid victory over the Streamwood Sabres.  The final score was 66-57.  Though the game got off to a slow start with both teams struggling to score, Wheaton was able to maintain the lead throughout most of the game and pull off the victory.  Senior Evan Williams led the Warriors with 12 points, while Tommy Blum and Christian Smith contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.  The team played well together, showing lots of energy and determination to overcome their opponent.  The success for the night did not end with the varsity as the Warriors' Sophomore and Freshman teams also won convincingly over their Streamwood counterparts.  Overall it was an exciting opening night at the Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament hosted by Wheaton Academy with four other schools (Bartlett, Brother Rice, Downers Grove North, and Streamwood) coming together to compete.  Well done Warriors!
