Aurora, IL--The Wheaton Academy Warriors, fresh off Friday night's win over Aurora Christian at home, traveled on Saturday night to Aurora to face Marmion Academy. The Cadets and the Warriors both had the best records in conference play coming into Saturday's game.Â
Wheaton Academy got down early in the game, but battled back to lead 32-27 at the half.Â
A physical, back-and-forth second half ensued with the Warriors maintaining a lead throughout. Marmion went on a run in the closing minutes to make it a two point game, but the collective clutch play of the Warrior team ultimately secured a 66-62 SCC win for Coach Froedden's Warriors.Â
Gordon Behr played a great game for the Warriors, tallying 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
Josh Ruggles added 13 points.Â
Saturday night's victory improves the Warriors' overall record to 12-7. The team will travel to Aurora again next Saturday night to face Aurora Central Catholic with a tip-off time scheduled for 7:30 PM. The Warriors defeated ACC earlier this year 77-52 at home.
