West Chicago, IL—The Wheaton Academy Warriors charged past the Knights of Kaneland High School on Saturday night at home in a 66-46 foul-rampant contest. The game was part of the one-day 3A shootout hosted by Wheaton Academy composed of four sophomore teams and four varsity teams (Rochelle, North Lawndale, Kaneland, Wheaton Academy), and was marked by the Warriors' Senior Night, honoring the team's six seniors.

The Knights had a tough time scoring against the Warriors, as they scored only one basket in the first quarter and had 12 points at the half. Collin Roy led the offensive attack for WA, scoring 10 of the team's 26 first half points.

The game was marked by a steady stream of fouls called, with both teams in the double bonus before the start of the fourth quarter. Wheaton Academy built up a steady lead in the second half--a lead of more than 20 points at one point, which Kaneland was never able to breach.

The Warrior bench saw some good minutes on Saturday night, including baskets by sophomore Jake Lindstedt and two free throws by junior Steven McDonnell, marking his first points of the season.

Senior Collin Roy had a season-high 29 points, shooting the lights out by knocking down 4 three-pointers, 4 field goals, and adding 9 free throws. Gordon Behr contributed a solid defensive presence and 12 points on the night, while Gabe Partain added 8 points.

All six seniors and their parents were honored before and after the game tonight for their contributions to the Wheaton Academy basketball program during their time here. Graduating seniors include Collin Roy, Jake Cousins, Gabe Partain, Brandon Ruggles, Cole Fritz, and Malcum Campbell.

Saturday's senior night game earns the Warriors another tally in the win column to improve their overall season record to 18-5 ahead of two tough remaining regular season games. The team will face a very physical Benet Academy team at home next Tuesday night, take the following weekend off, then come back on Saturday, February 20 for a heated matchup against St. Francis also played at home in the Warrior Dome. The Warriors received news on Thursday that they had received the number one seed in their regional, which begins on February 26.
