Warriors Topple Streamwood

Wheaton Academy faced the Sabres of Streamwood High School in a post-Thanksgiving matchup on Friday night in the third game of the Thanksgiving Invite. The Warriors came out firing on all cylinders, scoring 5 three-pointers in the first quarter alone and shooting an outstanding 63% from behind the arc for the first half and 43% total for the game. The sharpshooting Warriors, led by Christian Smith, Bryce Sandberg, and Josh Ruggles helped guide them to a 25-13 lead after the first quarter. 

The Warriors' offensive onslaught continued in the second quarter against a team which WA had the size-advantage against, outscoring the Sabres 21-11 through the efforts of Gordon Behr (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Josh Ruggles (13 points) to lead 46-24 at the half. 

Wheaton Academy continued to try to get the ball inside in the second half, feeding big men Chandler Fuzak (13 points, 4 rebounds) and Bennett Fuzak (4 points, 2 rebounds), while spending a lot of time at the free throw line. The team made 12 of 14 free throws in the second half (86%) en route to an 84-41 victory. 

Antonio Harris and Jacob Siewert led the scoring attack for Streamwood scoring 9 points a piece while Travious Brown-Utley added 6 points. 

Friday night's win moves the varsity Warriors to 3-0 on the season heading into the final Thanksgiving tournament game Saturday night against Bartlett High School. Saturday's game tips off at 3:45 PM in the Warrior Dome.
