OMAHA, Neb. (June, 23rd, 2021) - Tyler Sesvold, a 2017 graduate of Wheaton Academy, competed at the 2021 Olympic Team Trial Finals on Saturday. The now University of Alabama swimmer finished seventh in the final of the men's 100-meter butterfly with a time of 52.60. During the prelims, Sesvold broke a Crimson Tide program record by becoming the first swimmer to record a time under 52 seconds in the 100-meter butterfly (51.83).
While at Wheaton Academy, he was named the Senior Male Athlete of the Year in 2017. Sesvold competed with the St. Charles Swim Club and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials as a senior in high school. The high school All-American quickly became a collegiate All-American as he earned that accolade in 2020 for five separate events as a junior. The West Chicago native has earned All-SEC and All-American academic awards in each of his first three seasons.
