Cross Country Races in Heat

The Warriors cross country team competed in the 72 team Peoria Notre Dame Invite over the weekend.  The girls placed 37th out of 72 teams and the boys placed 49th.  The day is going to be remembered for racing in near 90 degree heat, which caused some slower times, but some great race strategies.

On the day, we had 9 athletes set a personal best for the Detweiller Park 3 mile course - Max Anliker, Nate Bierly, Yessica Brown, Tyler Cairncross, Mary Frost, Lydia Garrett, Anna Jerdee, Mariel Martin, and Ryan Wittstock.  Tyler, Mary, and Ryan also set their all-time personal bests for a 3 mile course on this hot date.

For the girls team, Julia Robleski continues to have a strong season, running 19:08, while Stephanie Gregersen and Kayla Lotz are on pace to break 20 minutes in the coming meets.  On the guys side, Jeffrey Ridge was 8 seconds off his all time personal best, running a 16:01 for 3 miles.

The cross country team will next be in action on Saturday at the Bartlett Flying Hawk Invite.  The races are at Sunrise Park and begin at 9am.
