Ebeling, Gagliano Earn All-State Honors

Ebeling is only second first-team all-state selection in WA history

Ebeling becomes second 1st-teamer in school history

West Chicago, Ill. -- The Illinois Coaches Association (ICA) has announced its all-state teams in all four classes and Wheaton Academy rising senior Madison Ebeling and graduate Meghan Gagliano earned first- and second-team honors, respectively, in Class A. The duo helped lead Wheaton Academy to the MSC Blue league title earlier this spring. With her first-team selection, Ebeling joins current Radford University shortstop Marissa Gagliano as only the second first-team all-state softball selection in the history of Wheaton Academy. Ebeling was a third-team selection following her freshman campaign in 2015 and a second-team pick in 2016. Gagliano earned 3rd-team recognition in 2015.

Wheaton Academy's historical all-state softball selections in softball are as follows: shortstop Madison Ebeling (1st team in 3A in 2017; 2nd team in 3A in 2016; 3rd team in 3A in 2015); centerfielder Meghan Gagliano (2nd team in 3A in 2017; 3rd team in 3A in 2015); shortstop Marissa Gagliano (1st team in 3A in 2014, 3rd team in 3A in 2013, 3rd team in 2A in 2012, 3rd team in 3A in 2011); catcher Jessica Bosse (3rd team in 3A in 2014 and 2013); pitcher Lauren Chessum (2nd team in Class A in 2004; 2nd team in Class A in 2003); and catcher Bryanne McClurg (2nd team in Class A in 2004; 3rd team in Class A in 2003).

In addition to her all-state selection, Ebeling was selected to the all-class All-DuPage County team by the Daily Herald, while Gagliano was an honorable mention pick.

Ebeling, who has verbally committed to play collegiate at NCAA Division I Loyola (Ill.) in the Missouri Valley Conference, hit .520 with a .602/.973/1.575 slash line. She tallied 8 doubles, 4 triples, and 6 home runs, while driving in 35 runs and scoring 32. She also stole 20 bases, while playing a stellar shortstop.

Gagliano, who will play collegiately at NCAA Division I Charleston Southern in the Big South Conference, hit .524 with 5 doubles and one triple. She also stole a team-leading 27 bases.

This summer, Ebeling and Gagliano are competing for two of the finest travel softball teams in the country. Ebeling is competing for the Beverly Bandits 18U Premier-Conroy, while Gagliano is playing for the Beverly Bandits 18U Premier-Allen. Every player on the roster of both teams is committed to NCAA Division I universities.
