Outstanding start of the Warrior Wrestlers

The Warrior Wrestler's began their Wrestling season with a JV Meet at Glenbard South. Some outstanding Wrestling by both teams. A smaller team than normal, the wrestler's had to forfeit some weight classes. Some tough wrestling allowed the team to pin many of their opponent's coming back at the end to tie their opponent's. Well done Wrestler's.

Wrestlers Perform well in a Twelve Team Tournament

The Wrestlers participated Saturday in a twelve team tournament hosted by Rockford East High School, in Rockford, IL. All the Wrestlers wrestled well in this tournament. Top performers were Liam McClelland who finished 4th, Alex Budzisz who finished 4th and John Gemmel who finnished in 3rd place.

Warrior Wrestler's Win their First Meet.

The Warrior Wrestler's participated in a Tri-meet between Westmont H.S. and Walter Lutheran H.S. The Warrior Wrestler's did excellent against their opponent's. The score between Wheaton Academy and Westmont was 33 to 30. Wheaton Academy verses Walther Lutheran was 21 to 53. Many of the varsity wrestler's were not available because of conflicting school event schedules. Winning wrestler's were Liam McClelland, Levi Severson, Mike Silugarian, Alex, Budzisz, Josh Bergquist, Peter Ferrill and Chris Williams.

Wrestlers Excel at Reaper Classic

Five Warrior wrestlers participated in the Reaper Classic Wrestling Tournament in Plano, Illinois, this weekend. Nineteen different teams participated in the tournament. All of the Wheaton Academy Wrestlers performed their best. Special recognition goes to the following wrestlers who performed superbly in the tournament: Alex Budzisz placed 3rd, Josh Bergquist placed 4th and Liam McClelland placed 6th. Out of the nineteen teams that participated, Wheaton Academy placed fourteenth overall. That is an amazing accomplishment with only five wrestlers competing in the tournament. We are very proud of our Wrestlers' performance. One could only imagine what the Wrestlers could have done if they had a complete team.

Warrior Wrestlers Defeat St. Francis

The Wheaton Academy wrestlers wrestled three challenging matches on Friday, Dec 30th. All the wrestlers fought hard and performed admirably against some tough competition. In the first match-up, Wheaton Academy lost to East Aurora 48-30. In the second match-up, Wheaton Academy lost to West Chicago 64-15. In the third match, Wheaton Academy defeated St. Francis 51-30. Individual Winners were Liam McClelland, Levi Severson, Mike Silfugarian, Alex Budzisz, Mark Acosta, John Gemmel, Luke Kram, Josh Bergquist, and Peter Ferrill.

Wrestlers Finish 5th

The Warrior Wrestlers performed outstanding at an Invitational Wrestling tournament hosted by Naperville Central H.S. With only seven wrestlers able to participate, they wrestled hard and courageously to capture a team finish of 5th out of 8 teams. Top performers were: 1st Place: Alex Budzisz 145 lbs, 2nd Place: Liam McClelland 106 lbs, 2nd Place: John Gemmel 160 lbs, 2nd Place Peter Ferrill 195 lbs. and 4th Place Chris Williams 285 lbs. Other Wrestlers participating in the tournament were Mark Acosta and Luke Kram. The Warriors have the Glenbard South Quad this Saturday followed by two home meets next week- Jan. 18th and Jan. 20th.

Warrior Wrestlers Win Two Matches This Weekend

The Warrior Wrestlers wrestled four meets this weekend. All the Wrestlers wrestled tough and courageously on the mat. Their hard work and commitment to excellence paid off with two victories. They lost two hard fought battles against Glenbard South H.S. and Vernon Hills H.S. The Warrior Wrestler's did beat St. Benedict H.S. 42 to 24 and also beat Proviso West H.S. 30 to 9. Well done Warrior Wrestlers. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Warrior Wrestlers Beat Immaculate Conception

The Warrior wrestlers performed "outstanding" in their home meet against Immaculate Conception Wednesday afternoon. Wheaton Academy has not hosted a wrestling meet for years, and this was a great way to begin having home meets again! The wrestlers really stepped-up to the challenge winning 59 to 24. The wrestlers showed courage and skill when wrestling some very good competition. Recognition goes to these wrestlers who won their match: Liam McClelland, Levi Severson, Mike Silfugarian, Alex Budzisz, Mark Acosta, John Gemmel, Luke Kram, Mat Camerer, Chris Williams. Special Recogition goes to one of the Team Captain's, Peter Ferrill who wrestled two matches during the meet. Not only did he win two matches, but he won both matches by pinning his opponents. Peter displayed extra ordinary courage, leadership and toughness on the mat. Well done Wrestlers!! Go Warriors!!!

Warrior Wrestlers Win One Meet and Lose One

The Warrior Wrestlers had a Tri-Meet with Aurora Central Catholic H.S. and Guerin Prep H.S. on Tuesday Jan. 24th. All the wrestlers performed well in their matches. The wrestlers beat ACC but came up short against Guerin Prep. Winner's for the evening were Liam McClelland, Alex Budzisz, Mark Acosta, Luke Kram, Josh Bergquist, Peter Ferrill and Matt Camerer. Warrior Wrestlers Host a Tri-Meet and Win

The Warrior Wrestlers defeated two opponent's in their second home meet this year. The Warrior Wrestlers shook the Warrior Dome Wednesday night when they defeated St. Edwards H.S. and St. Francis H.S. Outstanding wrestling was displayed by all teams. Professional Sportsmanship was also displayed by "all" the wrestlers. It was also "Senior Night" where we recognized two senior wrestler's, Josh Bergquist and Mat Camerer. Thank-you seniors for your leadership, hard work and commitment. Final Scores were Wheaton Academy 54, St. Edwards 18, and for the second match: Wheaton Academy 39 St. Francis 33. Special Recognition for Outstanding Performances: Liam McClelland, Mike Silfugarian, Alex Budzisz, Mark Acosta, Luke Kram, John Gemmel, Josh Berquist, Peter Ferrill, and Mat Camerer.
