Tuesday, April 8 – The track team opened up their season at Timothy Christian on a cold, windy and rainy afternoon. The meet was called after 5 running events. Before the meet was called off, the boys and girls 4x800 teams started off the season with respectable times in the rain, Jake Jones hit 5’6” in the high jump, and Sarah Daly won the 2 mile for the girls.
Friday, April 11 – The varsity track team travelled an hour and a half to Seneca to compete in the 20 team Seneca Invitational. For the second straight meet, the weather was rainy and windy and times were affected. Some of the highlights included the boys 4x800 team finishing in 7th place, the girls 4x200 team won their heat and finished in 4th place overall, Sarah Daly won the 2 mile with a time of 12:19, and Anthony LaMantia finished 4th in the first heat of the 2 mile with a time of 12:09.
Monday, April 14 – The girls track team competed in the Rosary Quad on a beautiful Monday afternoon. Many season best times were met and weather was not a factor. Anna Curato ran a 2:43 800m, Sarah Daly doubled and won both the mile (5:43) and 2 mile (12:08), Kortney Moss ran 14.0 in the 100m dash, Hannah Huff ran 6:21 in the 1600, and Bethany Killian set a season best in the 400m dash. The next meet for the girls will be on Wednesday, April 23 at Benet Academy.
Tuesday, April 15 – The boys track squad competed at Montini in a triangular. With all the wind, times were slightly affected. Nate Forgille ran a 57.2 400m dash, Mark Phillips (5:01), Mike DeRenzo (5:04) and Shai Weinstein (5:27) finished 1, 2, 3 in the 1600m run, Kent Smith ran an 11:23 2 mile, and Peter Heidlauf triple jumped 29’11”. The next meet for the boys will be at the Kaneland Invitational on Saturday.

The indoor track team ran on Friday night against 6 other schools and raced well. It was the beginning of the indoor season for Wheaton Academy. The boys team will race again next on Tuesday at West Chicago at 4:30.
