Josh Ruggles continued his IHSA 3-point Showdown shooting streak on Friday afternoon in the Class 3A final four competition. The third shooter in the group shooting just before Josh made an impressive 12 of 15 shots, making an outstanding performance for Ruggles of 12 or more necessary in order to stay alive or win. Despite the pressure, Ruggles resumed his calm, cool shooting form to make 13 of 15 shots to outright WIN the Class 3A Three Point Showdown title!
While Josh has claimed the championship plaque for Class 3A and that's a terrific accomplishment, he has the chance to prove himself as the state's best high school three point shooter tomorrow in the "King of the Hill" shootoff. This final shootoff will include Josh along with the winners of the IHSA Class 1A, 2A, and 4A winners.
Josh's three-point shooting title marks only the third time in school history that a Wheaton Academy basketball player has won the state three point shooting competition, joining former Warriors Jenn Lee who won the 2009 title and
Doug Scott (class of 1995) who won the Class A title.
Congratulations, Josh!
