What Is WA Live?

WA Live is a student run internet broadcast of Wheaton Academy athletic events through the I-High network. WA Live started as a Winterim class in January 2005, with the first broadcast occuring on Feb 18th, 2005. As the program moves into it's fourth year, a wider range of sports will be covered.

Radio Personalities

Bill Bickhart - Sponsor

Bill Bickhart is the Wheaton Academy sponsor for WA Live! He currently teaches PE, and is the Department Head of Physical Education. He is also the head cross country as well as head track coach. During Winterim, he teaches a course in broadcasting that prepares students for broadcasting in the real world. Mr. Bickhart can be reached at extension 7570.

 

 

Will Thrasher - Play-by-play

Will Thrasher is a senior at WA with a possible desire to go into radio broadcasting. Thrasher was part of the original WA Live class where he learned to become an efficient radio broadcaster, and was chosen to be the primary play-by-play announcer for WA Live sporting events. When he's not broadcasting, Will loves baseball and plays for the team at WA. This is Will's third year behind the microphone.

 

 

Mike Puccinelli - Color Commentator

Mike Puccinelli joined the WA Live team in 2007 by way of traveling to Texas to cover the boys' basketball winterim trip alongside Will Thrasher. Puccinelli has contributed to a number of broadcasts since then.

 

Jared Cochrum - Color Commentator

Senior Jared Cochrum has been a part of both soccer and basketball broadcasts in the past years. Jared also is a member of the boys basketball team.

 

 

 

 

Benjamin Euler - Color Commentator

Benjamin Euler is a senior at Wheaton Academy who was a part of the original WA Live class and who teamed up with Thrasher to do the first ever broadcast in 2005. Since then, he has done a number of soccer and girls basketball games.

 

 

 

Hans Engebretsen - Color Commentator

Engebretsen joined WA Live for the first time this past year, assisting in boys basketball broadcasts and announcing football games with Thrasher.
