Wheaton Academy Falls to Waubonsie Valley (Record 8-3)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team lost 8-11 to Waubonsie Valley on May 16th. Trailing by one goal at the half, the team played hard to the end despite injuries to several  starters. Scoring was led by Thomas Oster (3 goals, 1 assist) and Jon Prichard (2 goals). Jake Taylor added a goal and an assist. Matt Casto and Eric Andrews each added a goal. Sam Wilson had 2 assists. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 6 saves. Thomas Oster (11), Jake Taylor (8), Jon Prichard (7) and Nate Lopez (6) led the team in ground balls.

On Friday, May 18th the team plays top ranked Wheaton Warrenville South at Wheaton Academy at 5:30 pm.

Wheaton Academy Loses in Close Game to Naperville North (Record 8-2)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team lost 9-11 in a close game with Naperville North on May 11. The Wheaton Academy lacrosse team is now 8-2 for the season and ranked ninth in the state among all schools public and private. Scoring was led by Jon Prichard (6 goals, 1 assist). Jake Taylor, Thomas Oster and Eric Andrews each added a goal. Sam Wilson gave 2 assists. Thomas Oster and Andrew Casto also added one assist each. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 8 saves. Thomas Oster (13), Jon Prichard (7) and Nate Martinez (5) led the team in ground balls.

The team’s next game is May 15th at Waubonsie Valley High School. On May 18th the team plays top ranked Wheaton Warrenville South at Wheaton Academy at 5:30 pm.

Wheaton Academy Defeats Immaculate Conception (Record 8-1)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team defeated Immaculate Conception High School 12-1 on May 9. The Wheaton Academy lacrosse team is now 8-1 for the season and ranked eighth in the state among all schools public and private. Scoring was led by Jon Prichard (4 goals, 2 assists), Thomas Oster (3 goals, 1 assist), Jake Taylor (2 goals, 1 assist), Sam Wilson (1 goal, 2 assists), Nate Lopez (1 goal) and Andrew Casto (1 goal).  Nate Martinez added an assist. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 4 saves. Goalie Jay Gibson recorded 2 saves. Sam Wilson (13), Thomas Oster (8) and Nate Martinez (7) led the team in ground balls.

The team’s next game is May 11 at 5:00 pm against Naperville North High School.  The game will be played at Naperville North High School.

Wheaton Academy Defeats Montini Catholic (Record 7-1)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team defeated Montini Catholic  High School 9-4 on May 4. The Wheaton Academy lacrosse team is now 7-1 for the season and ranked ninth in the state among all schools public and private. Scoring was led by Jon Prichard (4 goals), Jake Taylor (3 goals, 1 assist), Nate Lopez (1 goal) and Thomas Oster (1 goal). Sam Wilson and Andrew Casto each added an assist. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 8 saves. Sam Wilson (7) and Thomas Oster (7) led the team in ground balls. Jake Taylor was perfect on face-offs winning 12 for 12. 

The team’s next game is May 7 at 5:30 pm against St Charles East High School.  The game will be played at the East Side Sports Complex.

Wheaton Academy Defeats Glenbard West (Record 6-1)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team defeated Glenbard West High School 12-2 on May 2. The Wheaton Academy lacrosse team is now 6-1 for the season. Scoring was led by Jake Taylor (5 goals), Jon Prichard (2 goals, 2 assists), Nate Lopez (2 goals), Nate Martinez (1 goal, 2 assists), Thomas Oster (1 goal, 2 assists) and Matt Casto (1 goal). Eric Andrews added 2 assists and Sam Wilson also had an assist. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 5 saves. Goalie Jay Gibson also had a save. Nate Martinez (9) and Jon Prichard (8) led the team in ground balls. The team had a season high 76 ground balls in the game.

The team’s next game is at 7pm on Friday, May 4 at Montini High School.

Wheaton Academy Defeats St Charles North (Record 5-1)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team defeated St. Charles North High School 10-2 on April 25. Scoring was led by Sam Wilson (3 goals, 1 assist), Jon Prichard (3 goals), Thomas Oster (2 goals, 2 assists), and Jake Taylor (2 goals). Nate Lopez, Nate Martinez, and Andrew Casto each added an assist. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 8 saves. Goalie Jay Gibson also had a save. Thomas Oster (6) and Scottie McLean (5) led the team in ground balls.

The team’s next game is against Glenbard West at 5:00 p.m. on April 27.

Wheaton Academy Defeats Maine South (Record 4-1)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team defeated Maine South High School 13-2 on April 20. A balanced offense included goals by Jake Taylor (4 goals, 2 assists), Jon Prichard (3 goals, 1 assist), Thomas Oster (2 goals, 3 assists), Nate Martinez (2 goals), Eric Andrews (1 goal, 3 assists) and Sam Wilson (1 goal, 2 assists). Matt Casto added one assist. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 5 saves. Thomas Oster (10) and Jake Taylor (9) led the team in ground balls.

The team’s next game is 5:30 p.m. at East Side Sports Complex on April 25th.

Wheaton Academy Defeats York (Record 3-1)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team defeated York High School 10-7 on April 16th. Scoring was led by Jake Taylor (4 goals, 2 assists), Sam Wilson (3 goals), Thomas Oster (2 goals, 1 assist), and Jon Prichard (1 goal). Nate Lopez added one assist. Goalie Alex Budzisz recorded 10 saves. Scottie Mclean led the defense in ground balls (8). Other ground ball leaders included Thomas Oster (7), Sam Wilson (5) and Nate Lopez (4). Defenseman Theo Selvaggio had 4 hits.

The team plays next at Maine South on April  20.

 

Wheaton Academy Narrowly Loses to St Francis Varsity (Record 2-1)


The Wheaton Academy boys' lacrosse team narrowly lost to St Francis 8-9 on April 13th. In the first lacrosse game played on the Wheaton Academy campus, the supportive home crowd helped the team rally from a four point halftime deficit to nearly tie the game. Jake Stoner and Alex Budzisz split goaltending responsibilities, and each recorded 4 saves. Scoring was led by Jake Taylor (3 goals) and Thomas Oster (2 goals). Sam Wilson, Matt Casto and Nate Martinez each added a goal. Nate Lopez and Eric Andrews each recorded 2 assists. Nate Martinez also added an assist. Thomas Oster led the team in ground balls (10). Other ground ball leaders included Jake Taylor (7) and Nate Lopez (5). Scottie McLean recorded 5 crowd-pleasing hits.

 

Wheaton Academy Defeats St. Charles East (Record 2-0)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team defeated St. Charles East 10-3 on April 5. Scoring was led by Thomas Oster (4 goals, 1 assist), Jon Prichard (4 goals), Jake Taylor (1 goal, 2 assists), and Zach Youngberg (1 goal). Goalies Jack Stoner and Alex Budzisz each recorded 6 saves. Austin Rose led the defense in ground balls (5). Other ground ball leaders included Jake Taylor (8), Sam Wilson (7), Thomas Oster (6) and Nate Lopez (5).

The team plays St. Francis on April 13th on the Wheaton Academy campus.

 

Wheaton Academy Wins Season Opener (Record 1-0)

The Wheaton Academy boys lacrosse team earned a decisive 12-5 victory over Marmion Academy in their season opener on March 22. Scoring was led by Sam Wilson (4 goals, 1 assist), Jake Taylor (3 goals, 3 assists), Jon Prichard (2 goals, 1 assist), Thomas Oster (1 goal, 2 assists), and Matt and Andrew Casto (1 goal each). Defenseman Scottie McLean led the team in ground balls (9). Goalie Jake Stoner recorded 6 saves. Goalie Alex Budzisz added four more saves.
