Boys Race on "Short Track"

The Boys track team raced at West Chicago Community High School against power house St. Francis, Larkin and West Chicago. Mike DeRenzo, Kent Smith and Wes Killian continue to race well but not to over look new comers Justin Seargeant (55 meters) and Joel Swick (400 meters). Together, they will be a force to reckoned with when the month of May rolls around. Complete results can be seen at athletic.net

Track Races at U-High Again

Warriors improve on last weeks races to gain respect of opponents. Mike DeRenzo races to a first place finish in the 3200m with a 10:09 2 mile. Morgan Durden blisters thru the 55 meter race in 8.01 seconds and Joel Swick races the 400m race in 63 seconds. All the results can be found on the Athletic.net web site.

A look ahead at the 2009-10 WA Softball Season

After winning eight more games last season than it did in 2008, the Wheaton Academy softball program will look to take another big step toward respectability in 2010. The Warriors will be making the move from the Private School League to the Suburban Christian Conference this spring. While the SCC will provide Wheaton Academy with a number of new challenges, the program's growth in 2009 included a visit to the championship game of the IHSA 3A Montini Regional, the school's first visit to a regional title game since the 2004 season. While the Warriors lost to the host school, WA did earn regular-season victories over two teams that reached sectional title games last spring. It looks for bigger successes in 2010.

Indoor Track Starts Year

The Warriors opened up the indoor portion of the track schedule on Friday night, competing at the University of Chicago. With only 14 athletes, the Warriors put up some solid times. Some performances include Mike DeRenzo finishing 2nd in the 3200 with a time of 10:24, Kent Smith running a 4:52 in the 1600, Joel Swick posting a 7.10 in the 55 dash, and Morgan Durden posting a 31.57 in the 200m dash. The Warriors will have their second indoor meet next Friday, once again at U-High.
