Westminster Christian

Wheaton Academy beat Westminster Christian 25-15, 25-15. Kate Gaffey led the team in both serves and attacks. Kate had 7 ace serves and 3 ace attacks. Kirsten Bell also had a good game serving and attacking. Kirsten had 13 good serves with only 1 miss, which included 2 ace serves. She also had 2 ace attacks. Good game ladies

Walther Tournament

The girl's sophomore volleyball team took 3rd place at the Walther Lutheran tournament on Saturday. Allyssa Linnane came in off the bench and did a good job with 13 setting assists and no setting errors. Molly Cook lead the team in serves, with 46 good serves and only two errors. The Warriors are now 4-1 in conference play, which makes them contenders for the conference title.

Timothy Christian

Wheaton Academy beat Timothy Christian last night, 25-15, 25-19. Kate Gaffey and Molly Cook did an excellent job hitting with both players having at least 3 kills for the match. My hitters' success was partially due to consistent setting by both Allie Boggs and Irina Bartolomey. Sam Swaney played excellent defense, making several important saves. We are currently 3-1 in conference.

Luther North

The girl's sophomore volleyball team defeated Luther North, 25-2,25-7. Our teams ability to win so soundly came from our consistent serving and the ability to stay intense throughout the entire game. Megan Shaw served 24 serves in a row in game one! We are now 2-1 in conference play. Thursday is a big game against Timothy Christian.

Walther Lutheran

Thursday night, the sophomore volleyball team beat Walter Lutheran, 25-9, 23-25, 25-4. Elise Anderson helped us make the final game a decisive with 17 serves in a row! Other high contributing servers were Megan Shaw and Allie Boggs.

Hard-fought loss to Aurora Christian

Wheaton Academy lost to Aurora Christian last night, 13-25, 24-26. The last game was a hard fought battle, with us coming from behind to tie the score 24-24. We played hard to the very end. We need to start our games with the level of intensity that we end our games. Kate Gaffey and Molly Cook both had excellent hitting games, each scoring 5 kills. Megan Shaw greatly improved our chances of winning the second game by coming in and serving 10 points for us. Elise Anderson also did an excellent job in from the bench adding confidence, intensity, and spirit to the team. Elise was ready to go and knew what to do as soon as she entered the game.

Hinsdale Central

Wheaton Academy lost tonight to Hinsdale Central, 9-25 and 11-25. We started out sluggish and began to improve but we ran out of time. Molly Cook was a powerful presence at the net with 2 solo blocks and 4 assists. Sam Swaney led our serving tonight which included 2 ace serves. Both Sam and Megan Shaw helped the team with aggressive digging in the back row.

GLC/WA Tournament

The sophomores earned some valuable experience this weekend at the
GLC/Wheaton Academy Tournament. We ended the day by letting
Batavia inch its way to a win after soundly defeating them in the
first game. We are a different team than we were a week ago and we
are ready for our game against Glenbard West on Thursday at 5:00.

WA vs. Batavia

The girl's sophomore team lost to Batavia, 13-25/17-25. The difference between winning and losing tonight's game was our serve reception. We are newly motivated to pursue excellence in this area. Kate Gaffey served well for us tonight, including 2 ace serves. We had excellent blocking from Allie Boggs, Molly Cook, Jessica Riley, and Elise Anderson. Our attacking was solid with Kirsten Bell, Jessica Riley, and Kate Gaffey all scoring kills. Our opportunity to attack the ball will greatly increase with improved serve reception.
