Warriors Finish Season at St. Charles East Sectional

Conclude First Season in SCC Strong!

The Wheaton Academy Varsity Girl's Tennis team made a smooth transition this season to the SCC conference, playing competitively with some of the top schools in the conference.  Overall the team finished 4th in the SCC Conference out of 10 schools.  The team finished the Sectional in 6th place out of 10 schools.  Kendra Kosirog and Eva Sedjo received the #4 seed in the sectional, which is the highest seed ever earned for girl's tennis in WA History.  It was a great honor for a great seasonat #1 Doubles!  The team also repeated as champion of the Glenbard North Quad, with Kendra and Eva taking 1st place at #1 Doubles, and Callie Brown and Shanna Ziegler taking 1st place at #2 Doubles.  Congratulations to the Varsity Girl's Tennis team on an outstanding season!

Gear Up for Conference on Sat!

The Warriors ended their regular season competition by losing to a tough St. Francis team 4-1. The Warriors finished the regular season in 4th place in the SCC. Kendra Kosirog played a great match at 2nd Singles beating a great opponent 6-3, 6-2! The Warriors look forward to a great conference tournament on Saturday. Rosary Defeats WA

The Warriors were defeated by a strong Rosary Team 5-0 in an SCC conference dual. The girls battled hard, but eventually were unable to overcome the talented Royals. Congratulations to Bridget Reilly/Emily Mirrilees who played an outstanding exhibition match at 4th doubles winning 8-5! Girls Tennis Defeats West Chicago

Gaffey Wins in Straight Sets

Despite cold and blustery conditions, the Warriors defeated West Chicago 4-1 to reclaim the City Championship for Girl's Tennis. It was a great win for the team after settling for a tie in last year's dual. Kosirog/Sedjo, Brown/Ziegler, and Van Beek all had to beat players that had just defeated a couple days earlier, which is not an easy task. Emmy Gaffey won convincingly at #1 Singles 7-5, 6-2 against a player she had lost to on Saturday. Natalie Van Beek came back to win in 3 sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-1at #2 Singles. Girls Tennis Wins Glenbard North Quad

Play West Chicago at Home Mon.

The Warriors repeated as champions of the Glenbard North Quad! Congratulations to the team and also to Kosirog/Sedjo and Brown/Ziegler for their 1st place finishes at 1st and 2nd Doubles! The girls will be playing West Chicago at home at 4pm on Monday to kick off Homecoming Week.

Warriors Fall to Geneva in Girls Tennis Match

The Warriors lost to a very strong Geneva team a score of 6-0. The scores did not always indicate how well the girls played against a very tough opponent. At 1st Doubles Kosirog/Sedjo played outstanding tennis in losing in two tie-breakers. Girls Tennis Defeats Montini in SCC Play

The Warriors got a much needed win against Montini in a SCC conference match. Eva Sedjo and Kendra Kosirog rolled for easy victories at 1st and 2nd singles, while Jenn White and Dani Abinion won easily at 3rd doubles, finishing their match in just over a half-hour. Girls Tennis Competes at Waubonsie Valley

The Warriors played well in the ultra-competitive Waubonsie Valley Invite. Competing against many of the top tennis programs in the area, the girls played some great matches and held their own pulling out a number of important wins. It was the best finish in the tournament for the Warriors in the 4 years that we have participated. Tennis Falls to Trinity

Lost First Dual of Season

The Warriors were unable to overcome some very talented singles players at Trinity High School as they lost all three singles matches en route to a 3-2 loss. The Warriors lost just their first dual of the season despite some outstanding play by two of their doubles teams. White/Abinion had an incredible comeback at 1st Doubles winning 6 games in a row in the 2nd set to win 6-3, 7-5. Mirrilees/Reilly fought off a match point in the 3rd set tie-breaker before winning 3-6, 6-4, (8-6). Tennis Defeats ACC

Wins Inaugural SCC Battle

The Warriors remain undefeated in head-to-head competition this year after opening their SCC conference season with a 5-0 win over Aurora Central Catholic. ACC could not field a full team this year, so they had to forfeit 2 doubles matches. Eva Sedjo and Kendra Kosirog dominated their matches at 1st and 2nd singles. Brown/Ziegler won easily at 1st Doubles, and Emmy Gaffey won her exhibition match. Tennis Defeats IMSA

Continue Perfect in Duals

It took almost 3 hours for Callie Brown and Shanna Ziegler to win the deciding match for the Warriors in a 3rd set tie-breaker against the Titans of IMSA. Brown and Ziegler pulled out a huge win at 2nd Doubles 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(7-2). It was another great win for the Warriors, who hung on to win all 3 doubles matches after Emmy Gaffey (1st Singles) was unable to finish her match with a strained calf muscle. 3rd Doubles tandem of Jenn White and Dani Abinion also pulled out a long 3-set victory winning 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-2. The Warriors remain undefeated in duals going into SCC conference play next week. Puts up 5 Scores of 6-0

The Warriors defeated Lisle in dominant fashion Tuesday winning their second consecutive match. The Warriors won 5 matches by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Scores: #1 Singles- Eva Sedjo won 6-0, 6-0 #2 Singles- Kendra Kosirog won 6-0, 6-0 #3 Singles- Bridget Reilly won 8-1 #1 Doubles- Gaffey/Van Beek won 6-0, 6-0 #2 Doubles- Brown/Ziegler won 6-0, 6-0 #3 Doubles- Abinion/White won 6-0, 6-0

Warriors Defeat Kaneland

Earned Redemption after Wheaton Quad

The Warriors rebounded from a tough tournament experience on Monday with a great win over Kaneland on Tuesday. All three doubles teams won to salvage the victory. This was a sweet redemption after losing to Kaneland 0-5 last year in the season opener. In last year's match all three doubles teams lost in 3 sets. This year 2 of the 3 doubles teams pulled out 3 set victories.

Warriors Challenge in Wheaton Doubles Quad

Fall to Wheaton North, Wheaton Warrenville South

The Warriors started their season facing some of the toughest competition they will face all year in the first Annual "Wheaton Doubles Quad" with Wheaton North, Wheaton Warrenville-South, and St. Francis. The Warriors had a number of very close matches but were not able to pull out any victories in the process. The matches were highlighted by Kosirog/Sedjo narrowly losing to Wheaton North at #1 Doubles in a 3rd set tie-break 3-6, 6-4, (7-10). Gaffey and Van Beek also hung very close to Wheaton North but fell just short 4-6, 5-7, and White/Abinion started out strong but couldn't finish against Wheaton Warrenville- South 6-2, 0-6, (4-10).
