Tennis takes 2nd in PSL

10.09.07 :: Girls Tennis :: Posted at 8:14 PM

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Tennis Team on their 2nd place finish at the PSL Tournament Saturday. The tournament was hosted by WA this year and we couldn't have asked for a better day! Senior Lauren Morgan won the 1st place Championship at 1st Singles vs. Walther Lutheran 6-1, 6-2! Lauren has had 4 solid years of tennis at WA and winning the PSL was a great way to finish up her high school tennis career!

The 2nd Doubles team of Junior Amanda Spurgeon and Senior Michelle Morency played incredibly well, making it to the finals of the tournament. They lost a tough final to Chicago Christian, but played hard to the end. This was Michelle's first year on the team and she proved to be a hard worker and a great asset!

The 3rd Doubles team of Sophomore Kelli Adair and Junior Kristen Nemejc blew through the competition winning their Championship match 6-3, 6-4 vs. Illiana Christian. They were undefeated in the conference during the season, earning the #1 seed at the tournament and taking it all the way.

1st Doubles Junior Lindsay Feltz and Sophomore Kendra Kosirog and Lizzy Westrope, who filled in at 2nd Singles for the day, all worked hard and played well too!

The team standings stood as follows:
1st - Walther Lutheran
2nd - Wheaton Academy
3rd - Timothy Christian
4th - tie between Illiana and Chicago Christian
