The Warriors placed fourth at the Aurora Christian Early Bird Scramble. In this competition, teammates were paired together, taking two strokes from each location and selecting the best outcome to be the location for the next shot. The team of Sam Scholes and Dan Schmitz were the highest finishers for the Warriors, placing fourth among all the two-man teams in the competition. WA Claims Wheaton City Tourney Title Golf team wins first ever city championship Posted on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 9:42 AM The Varsity Golf Team won its first ever Wheaton City Championship at Cantigny Golf Club. Shooting a team score of 309, the Warriors were victorious over St. Francis (321), Wheaton North (323) and Wheaton-Warrenville South (323). Blake Biddle lead the team with a score of two under par 70, also earning him overall medalist honors. David Flynn shot a score of 74, earning him third place among all the contestants. Also scoring for the Warriors were Bobby Gryfinski (82) and Austin Hall (83). Golf Team Opens with Win Solid victory over Kaneland HS Posted on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 9:42 AM The Varsity Golf Team started its 2007 season with a solid victory over Kaneland H.S. by a score of 303 to 360 in an 18-hole match. Medalist for the match was sophomore Blake Biddle who shot an outstanding score of six under par 66. This is a new school record. Other golfers whose scores counted in the victory were sophomore David Flynn (74), senior Bobby Gryfinski (81) and junior Sterling Witt (82). Close behind were teammates Austin Hall, Sam Scholes, and Ryan Dzingle who each shot scores of 84. This summer, Biddle is showing he is unlikely to taper off any time soon. His coach saw it all coming. “I actually did expect that,” Wheaton Academy boys golf coach Bob Broman said. “I’ve followed his progress since third grade. He didn’t let me down.” Biddle placed second individually at the IHSA Class AA St. Charles North Sectional at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, shooting a 71. That was one stroke shy of medalist Jake Smiley of St. Charles East, and Biddle’s score helped Wheaton Academy advance to sectionals as a team. Read More....
