Season Full of Firsts The Warriors fell to Sycamore High School 42-0 in the second round of the IHSA playoffs on Saturday. Even though the Warriors came out on the short side of the score, there were still many positives that came out of this year, including the first year finishing above .500, a playoff berth, and the first playoff win in school history. Wheaton Academy Knocks of #1 Hillcrest First Playoff Win Ever! The Warriors made school history once again by defeating Hillcrest in the first round of the IHSA playoffs. This is the program's first win in school history and an exciting one at that - the Warriors defeated Hillcrest 20-19 in Overtime! Wheaton Academy will be traveling southeast to play the #1 seeds Hillcrest at the end of the week. The date and time will be announced on Monday. Daily Herald Story on DuPage Football Pairings Warriors Fall to St. Eds Finish Season 5-4, Await Word on Playoffs The Warriors lost to St. Edwards Friday night on a punt return for a TD with less than 20 seconds left in the game. With the loss, the Warriors drop to 5-4 on the season, and will wait to see what happens in terms of the playoffs. The IHSA will announce all the playoff information tonight starting at 6pm, when all the playoff bound teams are announced, and the playoff brackets at 8pm. Daily Herald Story on the WA/St Edwards Game Montini Defeats WA Football Concludes the Season Against St. Edwards The Warriors were defeated by Montini High school on Friday night 42-27. The Warriors cut the lead to 36-27 with 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter and recovered an onside kick, but could not score again against the Broncos. The final regular season game will be against St. Edwards on Friday night. Daily Herald Story on the WA/Montini Game Football Team Makes History! Wins 5th Game - Playoff Eligible! The Warriors defeated Immaculate Conception 35-15 Friday night in Elmhurst to win their 5th game on the season. Coupled with their strength of schedule, this 5th victory will most likely land the Warriors in the IHSA Playoffs! The Warriors opened the game with a long drive that was capped with Brian Pell scoring a touchdown on 4th down, and that score held for the first half. The second half saw Immaculate Conception make a run, but the Warriors responded with Kai Libby and Jimmy Johnson having TD's. During the homecoming festivities on Saturday, the Wheaton Academy Football team defeated Chicago Christian 34-13. The scoring started at the end of the first quarter when Kai Libby ran in from 19 yards out, and the Warriors never looked back. Daily Herald Story on the WA/Chicago Christian Game St. Francis Defeats WA Football Team Now 3-2 Wheaton Academy was defeated by St. Francis 52-12 on Friday night. The Warriors will be playing their next game Saturday afternoon at Wheaton College against Chicago Christian. This is the homecoming game, so come out and support the Warriors. Daily Herald Story on the WA/St. Francis Game Warriors Fall to AC Friday Night 48-31 Drop to 3-1 on the Season The Warriors were defeated by Aurora Christian 48-31 on Friday night in a game filled with offense. Whaeton Academy's Brian Pell threw for 4 TD's and nearly 400 yards, but the Eagles of Aurora Christian were too much, as they scored 7TD's, and amassed 305 rushing yards. Daily Herald Story on WA Football Football 3-0 on Season Defeat Guerin Prep on Friday Night The Warriors opened up conference play with a 21-0 victory over Guerin Prep on Friday night at Wheaton College. Kai Libby returned 2 interceptions for TD's and Luke Thorson added a TD reception as well. The Warriors look for their 4th win of the season on Friday when WA visits Aurora Christian. Chicago Sun-Times Story on WA Football Warriors Defeat St Joseph 2-0 On the Season QB Brian Pell threw for 216 yards and 4 TD's as the Warriors moved to 2-0 on the season, defeating St. Joseph 43-31. Luke Thorson had 3 TD's receiving while Anthony Ritchie had 1 INT for a TD and caught 1 TD. RB Kai Libby added another TD reception. This upcoming Friday, the Warriors will be playing at Wheaton College against Guerin Prep. Football Wins Opener Defeats Momence 28-18 The Wheaton Academy Warriors opened up the football season in fine fashion - coming back from a fourth quarter deficit and defeating Momence High School 28-18 on Friday night. Senior quarterback Brian Pell threw for 280 yards and 1 TD, leading a balanced Warriors offense. Kai Libby rushed for 64 yards and 2 TD's. Anthony Ritchie had 9 catches that went for 126 yards. The Warriors also played some great defense. The final points were scored off a Momence fumble - DT Louis Bianco recovered a fumble and went 38 yards for a touchdown.
