Two Warriors Sign with Colleges Posted on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 @ 7:20am Christian Reddick and Tyler Friedl have both committed to play football at the collegiate level next year. Christian will be playing off at Wartburg College and Tyler will be local, playing for Wheaton College. Football All-Academic Team Announced Three Warriors made the Team Posted on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 @ 6:45am Evan Klisares (WR, 36 catches, 571 yards, 9 touchdowns), Anthony Ritchie (WR/LB, 36 catches, 671 yards, 6 TD's, 60 tackles, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries), and Brian Pell (QB, 116-188 for 1979 yards, 20 TD's) were named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Assoc. (IHFCA) Class 5A Academic All-State team last week. Congratuations to these three! Varsity Football Falls to Eagles Season Ends at 4-5 Posted on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 @ 2:15 PM The Varsity Football team fell to the Aurora Christian Eagles on a rainy, cold night on Friday. Chris Reddick had a 33 yard TD run in the second quarter that closed the Eagles lead, but the Warriors could never catch the Eagles. Junior quarterback Brian Pell threw for 296 yards and 2 TD's, and Evan Kilisares had a 60yd TD reception in the 4th quarter. The Warriors finished up the season 4-5. WA Falls to Chicago Christian Must win last 2 to qualify for playoffs Posted on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at 8:35 AM The Warriors traveled to Palos Heights on Friday night to take on the Knights of Chicago Christian. With a 3-3 record, the Warriors need two wins in their final three games to qualify for the playoffs. After a hard fought game, Wheaton Academy fell to Chicago Christian 46-21. Brian Pell threw for 312 yards and scored two touchdowns, and Anthony Ritchie caught a 58 yard pass to setup one of those touchdowns. With the loss, the Warriors must win their final two games of the year against Lake Forest Academy and Aurora Christian to qualify for the playoffs. Read the complete Daily Herald Recap. Football Team Victorious Strong Showing against Rockford Christian Posted on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 at 5:30 PM The Wheaton Academy Warriors defeated Rockford Christian 51-19 in an afternoon football game at West Chicago High School. The Warriors got off to a fast start with a 17 yard Chris Reddick TD run 2 plays into the game. Reddick also added a 76 yd TD run later in the first quarter. At halftime the Warriors led 44-7 and never looked back. For the game, quarterback Brian Pell threw for over 200 yards, and receiver Jake Jones caugh over 100 yards.The Varsity team is now 3-3 and will be in action next weekend at Chicago Christian. Warriors Fall to Broncos Set School Record for Offense Posted on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at 5:38 AM Wheaton Academy played a hard fought game against a tough opponent in Walther Lutheran at Serpico Field in Melrose Park Friday night. The Warriors, led by QB Brian Pell's opening 43 yard touchdown run got up early 7-0. At the end of the half, it was tied 21-21. The Warriors led 28-27 with 5 minutes left in the game, but could not contain Walther running back Brandon Sims who rushed for 235 yards and QB David Tuomi who threw for 235 yards. Despite the final score of 42-28 in favor of the Broncos, WA set a new team record for total offense with 513 yards. Pell threw for 402 yards, 3 TD's, and 1 INT and ran for 65 yards and a TD. Anthony RItchie played a stellar game, catching 8 passes for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns. Evan Kilisares had a great night as well, catching 5 passes for 155 yards and a TD. Chris Reddick gained a hard-earned 46 yards. The Warriors welcome PSL foe Rockford Christian Life on Saturday at 3pm for the 2008 Homecoming game. Warriors Collect First Win Beat the Braves on the Road Posted on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at 9:30 PM Wheaton Academy won it's first game of the season 28-0 in extremely muddy conditions at Luther South. The Warriors started out the scoring in the 2nd quarter when Kai Libby plunged in for a 2 yard touchdown. It wasn't until the 3rd quarter that the Warriors began to put the game away. Libby scored again, this time running one in from 19 yards out to make it 14-0. The scoring was capped off by two beautiful passes from quarterback Brian Pell, one for a 25 yard touchdown to wide receiver Evan Klisares, and the other to wideout Jake Jones for 65 yards. The Warrior defense held Luther South to only 5 first downs and -33 total yards. The Warriors look to improve to 2-0 in the PSL and 2-2 overall as they host Luther North at West Chicago High School, Saturday night, September 20th at 7 pm.
Warriors Fall to Genoa Kingston First Home Game of Season Posted on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at 10:35 PM The Warriors opened up the 2008 home portion of their schedule with a 31-20 loss to the Cogs of Genoa Kingston. After falling behing 24-0, the Warriors scored 3 times in the last 13 minutes of the game. Junior Brian Pell threw for 198 yards and ran for one touchdown. He also hit Evan Kilisares and Kai Libby with touchdown passes. The Warriors will next play at Luther South in one week. Read Newspaper Article Football Opens up Season at Momence Falls 46-25 Posted on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at 5:15 AM The Warriors lost a hard-fought game to Momence 46-25. Despite the score, WA played a tough game, out-rushing their opponent 330 to 287, and were led by senior running back Chris Reddick's 167 yards and another 103 on the ground by junior quarterback Brian Pell. WA set a team record with 407 total yards on offense. Momence's sophomore tailback Calvin Phillips did most of the damage to the Warriors, rushing for 218 yards and 4 touchdowns as well as 1 touchdown reception. The Warriors were also led by junior TE/LB Anthony Ritchie, who had 4 catches for 61 yards and 2 touchdowns and tied senior corner Colin Kruse for the team lead with 5 tackles. Other leaders on defense were senior safety Sam Scholes who had 4 tackles and an interception, and senior defensive tackle Dan Smith, who had 3 tackles and returned a fumbled hand-off for a touchdown. The Warriors are now gearing up for their first home game, a 7:30pm tilt on Friday night September 5th against the Genoa-Kingston Cogs.
