Coach Martha VanZee is entering her 14th year as an assistant cross country coach at Wheaton Academy. She started coaching the same year that Head Coach Bill Bickhart came to Wheaton Academy. Outside of coaching cross country, Coach VanZee is also the math department head at Wheaton Academy, as well as one of the Project Lead Sponsors.

the girls which way to run. During her 14 years of coaching, Coach VanZee has worked with the girls varsity team and continued to build up the pack concept that was developed early on. During the past 14 years, the girls have qualified for the Class A state race 9 straight times. One athlete said of Coach VanZee, “She has been such a great spiritual leader to me and the rest of the girls.”
Coach VanZee is married to Steve and they currently reside in Winfield. When she is not coaching, Martha continues her running by competitively entering road races. She has competed in the Chicago Marathon as well as many half marathons.
