Coach Sarah Giere joined the Wheaton Academy coaching staff in the fall of 2004 as the Head Girl’s Tennis Coach.  

Coach Giere’s tennis experience started as a child when she took lessons at a summer camp. She enjoyed the sport so much that she devoted much time to taking lessons throughout the years at camp, as well as at a local club. She then moved on to play in high school and college. She graduated from Taylor University with a degree in Communication Studies, after playing 4 years of tennis. For 3 years at Taylor, Coach Giere was privileged to qualify for and play at the NAIA National Championship in Tulsa, OK. Her team won two Conference Championships to qualify together and the additional year, Coach Giere and her doubles partner qualified at 1st Doubles to compete. Prior to coaching at Wheaton Academy, Coach Giere coached tennis and softball for two years at Grandville High School in Grandville, MI.

In 2004, the Wheaton Academy Girl’s Tennis Team won its first ever PSL Championship, repeating in 2005. Coach Giere took “maternity leave” in 2006 to welcome her daughter Ellie on August 27th.  She is excited to be back this fall, co-coaching with Joel Visker.

Coach Giere’s loves combining her passion for the sport of tennis and her enjoyment of working with high school students. She feels blessed to have a career in coaching and hopes to better the athletes she works with both in tennis and in their life, helping to shape them into Godly young women.

Coach Giere is married to Brian and when not on the courts at the Academy, she is a stay-at-home mom caring for their two daughters, Hannah (age 3 ½ ) and Ellie (age 1). She and her family attend First Baptist Church of Geneva.
