Warriors Fall to Marmion in Sectional Final Conclude Season 17-5-2 The Wheaton Academy Warriors fell to Marmion Academy in the Sectional Final game by the score of 2-1. Marmion scored early in the game and then added another goal in the 2nd half. The Warriors continued to dominate the course of play in the second half, but did not find the net until 10 minutes left in the game. With the score 2-1, Wheaton Academy hit the post with 4 minutes left on the clock. Despite their efforts, Wheaton Academy fell 2-1 to end their season at 17-5-2. The season was a successful one despite missing out on an opportunity to advance to state. The Warriors won the Suburban Christian Conference, won a Regional Championship and advanced to the Sectional Final despite graduating 9 starters from last year's team. The year included 3 All Sectional recognitions, 2 All Area nominations, 5 All Conference nominations and an IHSSCA Sectional Sportsmanship Award Recognition by other coaches. Tim Daniels was also named Player of the Year in the SCC. Soccer Defeats Antioch Plays for Sectional Championship on Saturday Wheaton Academy advances to the Sectional Final by beating Antioch on Tuesday evening 6-0 in the Hampshire Sectional. The Warriors led 3-0 at the half after 2 goals by Tim Daniels and one by Brandon VanderVeen. Goals in the second half were provided by Trevor Adams, Tim Daniels and Babel Daniel. The Warriors will play the winner of tomorrow's match between Marmion and Lakes on Saturday at 4:00pm at Hampshire. Philip Oster led the way for the Warriors with the shutout. Soccer Wins 2A Regional Defeats Oswego 1-0 Wheaton Academy defeated Oswego by the score of 1-0 on Saturday to win the Regional Championship. Brandon VanderVeen scored an unassisted goal in the first half which ended up being the game winner. The Warriors were led by a shutout from Philip Oster who made 4 saves. The Warriors move to 16-4-2 on the year and play on Tuesday in the first rounds of sectionals. Soccer Win Regional Opener Defeats Grayslake Central Wheaton Academy defeated Grayslake Central High School in Regional play today by the score of 3-0. Tim Daniels had 2 goals and assisted on the third goal to Babel Daniel. Philip Oster posted the shutout. Soccer Continues to Win Defeats Benet Academy Wheaton Academy Boys Soccer defeated Benet Academy by the score of 1-0 on Wednesday night. Tim Daniels scored late in the second half off of a ball by Brian McLean to earn the victory on Senior Night at Wheaton Academy. Philip Oster posted the shutout for the Warriors. The win was the Warriors 14th on the season. Geneva Falls to Warriors WA Holds Vikings Scoreless Wheaton Academy Boys Soccer defeated Geneva by the score of 2-0. Tim Daniels provided a goal in the first half after receiving a ball from Babel Daniel and slotting the shot far post to go ahead 1-0. Later, in the second half, Tim Daniels flashed across the middle of the box and found himself on the end of a driven serve by Alex Varga. The ball hopped once in the box before Daniels headed the ball past the goalkeeper and allowed the Warriors to go up 2-0. Philip Oster made 6 saves and secured the shutout. WA Defeats Montini Daniels Has Another Hat Trick Wheaton Academy defeated Montini 7-0 tonight. Tim Daniels provided a hat trick for the Warriors in addition to goals by Josh Kremers, Babel Daniel, Trevor Adams and Alex Varga. Soccer Defeats Chicago Christian Wins 7th Conference Game Wheaton Academy defeated Chicago Christian by the score of 3-2 on Tuesday night. Brandon VanderVeen provided 2 goals and Tim Daniels added 1. The Warriors move to 11-3-2 on the year and 7-0 in conference. Boys Soccer Wins Again Shuts Out Marian Central 5-0 Wheaton Academy defeated Marian Central 5-0 on Thursday night. Warriors Defeat St. Edwards Ranked #4 by Daily Herald Wheaton Academy St. Edwards 7-0 on Tuesday night. During the past couple of days, the Warriors have defeated Andrews, Marmion, and St. Edwards. This streak has pushed the Warriors into the #4 slot in the Daily Herald Rankings. See the complete rankings. Warriors Defeat Marmion Move to 4-0 in the SCC Wheaton Academy defeated Marmion by the score of 5-4 on Monday night. The Warriors fell behind 1-0 before taking the lead back by the half. The 2nd half included plenty of goals as the Warriors took a 3-1 lead before Marmion began a variety of dangerous set pieces. With the score eventually tied at 4-4, the Warriors Brandon VanderVeen netted the game winner with just over a minute to play. The Warriors move to 8-2-1 on the season and 4-0 in the SCC. Soccer Concludes Pepsi Showdown Defeats Andrews 4-1 Wheaton Academy defeated Andrew 4-1 in their final game of the Pepsi Showdown. With the score tied 1-1 at halftime, the Warriors provided 3 second half goals to take the victory. Complete Rankings. Soccer Defeats Marist Daniels has Hat Trick Wheaton Academy defeated Marist 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the final game of pool play in the PEPSI Showdown. Tim Daniels recorded a hat trick scoring once in the first half and twice in the second. Soccer Falls to New Trier Held halftime lead against 3A State Champions The Boy's Soccer team played the second game of the Pepsi Showdown Thursday night against the defending 3A state champions in New Trier. The Warriors started out strong, scoring 2 goals in the first half, one by Tim Daniels and the other by Stephen Fernandes. But New Trier came back with 3 goals in the second half to escape with a 3-2 victory. Complete Story from Daily Herald Warriors Tie CVCA Remain Undefeated Heading into Pepsi Showdown The Boy's Soccer team traveled to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy over the weekend to continue the tradition which these two programs have created over the last 5 years. The score ended in a 2-2 tie with WA battling back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits. CVCA scored 15 minutes in after WA had provided more of the chances in the early parts of play. Babel Daniel knotted the score at 1 as Tim Daniels chip left him 1 vs. 1 with the goalkeeper. A penalty kick left CVCA up 2-1 at halftime. Tim Daniels tied the game at 2-2 after providing a series of moves through the midfield before striking from 25 yards out. Each team hit the post in the final 10 minutes before the game ended 2-2. CVCA is now 2-0-2 as they try and return to the Ohio State Finals for the 3rd time in as many years. Wheaton Academy heads into the PEPSI Showdown this week with a record of 3-0-1. The week will include games against Plainfield Central, New Trier and Marist. The Boy's Soccer team is at home on Thursday when they play the defending state champs, New Trier at 6:30. Boys Soccer Victorious Moves to 2-0 on the Season Wheaton Academy defeated Kaneland High School 6-0 on Thursday evening. Devin Moore and Tim Daniels each had two goals in addition to Quinn Gorski and Brandon VanderVeen each adding one. Phillip Oster posted the Shutout. Boys Soccer Wins Opener Defeats West Chicago 2-1 Wheaton Academy defeated West Chicago High School by the score of 2-1 on Tuesday night. The Warriors fell behind 1-0 but tied it by the midway point on a Devin Moore finish. Travis Guerra provided the game winner for Warriors late in the second half. The Warriors are back in action on Thursday at Kaneland High School.
