Soccer Loses in 2OT to End Season Drops Sectional Final 2-1 Posted on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 @ 1:50 PM The Wheaton Academy Warriors fought a close battle at the Rochelle Sectional Final, only to fall in double overtime to Oswego H.S. The Warriors fell behind 1-0 but then responded in the first half with a Tim Daniels goal. Daniels displayed a variety of moves before finding the side netting to tie things up. Moments earlier a strike from Tim Daniels rocketed off of the post, keeping the score at 1-1 at the half. The second half and first overtime was played to a scoreless tie before Oswego found the net in the second overtime to take a 2-1 victory. The Warriors will deeply miss 10 seniors who have made a mark on this program that will not soon be forgotten. Soccer Win Sectional Semi Final Advances to Final on Saturday Posted on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 @ 5:13 AM Wheaton Academy defeated Freeport High School by the score of 2-1 in overtime in the sectional semi-finals. It was 1-1 at halftime. The Warriors dominated the majority of play in the second half with many dangerous opportunites that they were just unable to capitalize on until 4 minutes into the first 10 minute overtime where they finished the game off. The pretzels from Freeport High School scored early in the first half. Wheaton Academy responded with a goal by Ian Moses. Devin Moore finished the final goal in overtime off a long throw-in from Ian Moses. Wheaton Academy advances to the Sectional Finals on Saturday where they will face Oswego High School. Wheaton Academy defeated Sycamore High School by the score of 4-0 this afternoon. It was 1-0 at halftime but the Warriors from Wheaton Academy broke it open in the second half. Tim Daniels had the lone goal of the first half assisted by Luke Partain. Tommy Fuller finished the second goal quickly in the second half from a pass by Tim Daniels. Tim Daniels followed with the third goal and Mark Fernandes finished the scoring with the fourth goal from a cross by Tim Daniels. Wheat Academy Advances on to the sectional semi-final next week.
Plays for Regional Championship Saturday Posted on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 @ 5:10 AM Wheaton Academy defeated Burlington Central by the score of 3-1 on Monday night. Tommy Fuller had 2 goals and while Devin Moore added the third. The Warriors advance to the Regional Finals which will be held at Wheaton Academy on Saturday against Sycamore. Warriors Win PSL Championship Marmion Academy Up Next Posted on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 @ 5:22 AM The Warriors defeated the Trojans of Timothy Christian on Thursday night to complete an undefeated run through the PSL. The Warriors were led by goals from Luke Partain, Charles West, Devin Moore and Tim Daniels. The shutout was posted by Senior Goalkeeper and Captain Ryan Seager who made saves behind a strong defensive line of Danny Torres, Justin Potesta, Kyle Pilcher and Ian Moses. The Warriors conclude their long history in the PSL on a high note as they move into the Suburban Christian Conference beginning next season. Wheaton Academy will play at Marmion Academy Friday evening at 6:30pm to finish off a 4 game week. WA Defeats Westminster Final PSL Game on Thursday Night Posted on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 at 6:20 AM Wheaton Academy defeated Westminster Christian in the PSL Tournament by the score of 6-1. Alex Varga and Brandon VanderVeen and Tommy Fuller each had 2 goals before the game was called due to weather with 35 minutes left in the second half. Ryan Seager posted 1 save and a shutout. Phil Oster posted 1 save and 1 Goal Against.

On Homecoming Friday, the Wheaton Academy Warriors tied Lake Park on Friday evening. Wheaton Academy held a 2-0 lead with 15 minutes left in the game and let it slip away to a 2-2 tie. Charles West (assisted by Devin Moore) and Brandon VanderVeen (assisted by Ian Moses) had the goals for the Warriors. Ryan Seager made 9 saves for the Warriors as well. This tie moves the Warriors to 6-4-3 on the season. The next game for the Varsity Soccer Team will be on Monday evening at 6:30pm as the Warriors host St. Francis.
Warriors Beat Illiana Christian Move to 2-0 in conference Posted on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 at 12:25 PM The Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated Illiana Christian on Tuesday 3-2. Tim Daniels, Charles West and Tommy Fuller each tallied a goal, with an assist going to Luke Partain. Ryan Seager contributed 9 saves in the victory. The Warriors move to 4-3-2 on the year, and 2-0 in the PSL. They'll be back in action Thursday night at Timothy Christian at 6:15 pm. Pepsi Showdown Concludes Warriors finish with tough loss Posted on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at 2:00 PM The PEPSI Showdown concluded Saturday for the Boys Varsity Soccer team. In their final game, they lost to St. Viator by the score of 2-1. The lone goal was scored by Tim Daniels. Senior Ryan Seager finished the game with 15 saves. The Warriors finish the prestigious tournament with a record of 1-3-0. WA defeats Westminster 1-0 in the Private School League Posted on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at 5:11 AM Wheaton Academy defeated Westminster Christian tonight 2-0. The game was played at Wheaton Academy. The Warriors of Wheaton Academy forced the Westminster GK to make 12 saves on the evening, but were able to score in the 53rd and 55th minute. Tommy Fuller scored off of an assist by Kyle Pilcher which was quickly followed by a Tim Daniels goal assisted Danny Torres. The Wheaton Academy Warriors return to action on Thursday at home at 4:30 against Maine South in the PEPSI Showdown. WA moves into Daily Herald Top 20 WA falls to Lyons Moves on to 3rd Round Posted on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at 9:20 PM The second round of the PEPSI Showdown was one to remember at the Warrior’s home field on Thursday night. Lyons Township played superior in the first half taking a 2-0 lead on a well finished cross and a strike from the top of the 18. The Warriors of Wheaton Academy responded with fury as the 2nd half began, scoring two goals in the first 5 minutes of play. The first was off the head of Charles West after a long throw by Ian Moses. The second goal came on a diving header by Justin Potesta off of a free kick by Tim Daniels. The two teams battled without any more goals in the final 35 minutes of regulation and two, 10 minute overtimes. Lyons finished the game in penalty kicks, winning 5-4 in 6 rounds. Lyons Township will move on and advances to 5-1 on the year while Wheaton Academy will play St. Charles North at 1:20 at the Lyons Township Soccer Complex this Saturday. Warriors Win Opening Game Pepsi Showdown Continues Thursday Posted on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at 5:19 AM The game went back and forth in the opening round game of the PEPSI Showdown. Wheaton Academy struck first with a beautifully struck direct kick by Luke Partain. Lincoln-Way responded in the 2nd half with a ball placed into the side netting off a corner that was not cleared by the Warriors. In the 70th minute, Brandon VanderVeen struck a ball to the back post which Senior Justin Potesta put away for the go ahead goal. The Warriors move to 2-0-2 on the year and play Thursday night in the 2nd round of the PEPSI at 6:30pm at Home. Warriors Defeats CVCA Exciting 2-1 Win against the Ohio State Champions Posted on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at 7:15pm PM The reigning state champions of Ohio journeyed to Wheaton Academy on Saturday for an intense, even played game. CVCA struck first with a gorgeous direct free kick to the upper corner. Wheaton Academy responded with a free kick played across the face of the goal and finished by Senior Charles West. The teams battled in an even, intense second half until Danny Torres poked in the winning goal in the 75th minute of the game off of a direct set piece. Wheaton Academy moves to 1-0-2 while CVCA falls to 3-1-1. Wheaton Academy will be back in action on Tuesday at Home in the opening round game of the PEPSI Showdown. The game will be played at 5:00pm against Lincoln-way East. Tough Fought Soccer Game WA and Geneva play to a tie Posted on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at 5:00 AM Geneva and Wheaton Academy battled to an even draw on Wednesday night. Wheaton Academy struck first in the first 2 minutes of play with a well placed, far post shot from Tim Daniels. Geneva responded before the game hit the 10 minute mark with a far post header by Shaun Sloan. Geneva finished a counter attack and held a 2-1 lead for most of the game. Wheaton Academy tied the game with 57 seconds left on the clock. Tommy Fuller headed a ball across the face of the goal off of a throw by Ian Moses. Charles West finished the ball in a one on one header verse the goalkeeper. Geneva goes to 4-0-1 while Wheaton Academy has 2 ties. Wheaton Academy will be back in action on Saturday at 1:00 against the defending Ohio State Champions, CVCA. Boys Soccer Opens Up Earns a Tie at West Chicago High School Posted on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 5:15 AM The boys soccer team opened up the season with a 1-1 tie at West Chicago High School. Devin Moore scored the Warriors lone goal in the 77th minute. The next time the Warriors will be in action is next Wednesday at Geneva High School.
