On Friday, the PSL announced their season awards. Wheaton Academy had two all-conference players. Anthony Ritchie and Tim Rusthoven were named All-PSL. Tim Rusthoven also took the honor of being named Co-Player of the Year with Andy Stursma from Chicago Christian.

Boys Move On To Sectional-Semis

Last night the Warriors did something they haven't done in 11 years - win an IHSA Regional Championship! The Warriors defeated Hampshire 47-42 in a tightly contested game. Tim Rusthoven continued his solid play with a double-double (18 points 12 boards), and Tim Streets played some tough defense on one of Hampshire's top players. With this win, the Warriors move onto the Sectional Semifinal on Tuesday evening at Rochelle against Rochelle. Game starts at 7:30pm. Daily Herald Article on Regional Championship.

On Tuesday night, the Warriors defeated Sycamore 66-48 to advance to the IHSA Regional Final Friday night. The Warriors got out fast, scoring 24 first quarter points, and also shot well from the three point line, hitting 6 shots on the night (Tim Streets 4, Quinn Gorski 1, Jon Burdett 1). Tim Rusthoven led the Warriors with 16 points and 8 blocks, while Anthony Ritchie scored 14 points. The Regional Championship is Friday night at Burlington Central against the winner of Wednesday night's Kaneland/Hampshire matchup. Tip is 7:30pm. Daily Herald Article

The Boys Varsity team defeated Montini Catholic 78-45 to finish the regular season at 15-8. The Warriors were lead by Tim Rusthoven's 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 blocks. The Warriors had a strong shooting night as the team shot 57% from the field and 43% from the 3 point line. Overall it was a very balanced attack as all 12 players scored. The guys earned the first seed in their  IHSA Regional which starts next week. The Warriors will play the winner of the play in game between Burlington Central and Sycamore on Tuesday night, March 3rd at 7:30 pm.

The Boys Varsity basketball team defeated Nazereth Academy 59-35 in non-conference action at the Warrior Dome. It was a great win for the guys as the team jumped out to a 20-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Warriors were led by Tim Rusthoven’s 21 points and 11 rebounds. Anthony Ritchie contributed 12 points and Eli Nupanga came off the bench to spark the team with 8 points and 10 rebounds. The team played very unselfishly dishing out 18 assists on 28 made field goals and won the battle on the boards 35 to 15. The guys return to the Warrior Dome on Friday at 7:00 pm to play conference opponent Luther South

Boys get back to Winning Ways

This past week was very successful for the Warriors. The guys got back on the winning path, defeating IMSA on Tuesday night, and last night defeated Westminster. The team cruised to a 62-37 victory after starting the game with a 12-2 run. The Warriors were led by Tim Rusthoven's 11 points and 9 rebounds and Anthony Ritchie's 9 points 9 rebounds. The win puts the warriors at 12-6 (5-1 PSL)

On Friday night, the Varsity Boys played in front of one the loudest home crowds in recent memory.In a tightly contested battle, the Warriors fell by 8 points to the Trojans 70-62. The game wasn't decided until the final minutes when the Trojans nailed their free throws to stop the Warriors comeback. The boys look to get back on the winning track Tuesday night at IMSA. The Warriors, up by 7 late, looked to have a game against rival St. Francis in the bag, but the Spartans came back. During the last 55 seconds of the game, the Spartans overcame that 7 point lead and sent the Warriors to their 5th loss on the season. The varsity boys traveled to Chicago last night and defeated Luther North 89-51. The Warriors pressure defense helped them jump out to a 27-15 first qaurter lead and they never looked back. The Warriors defense jumpstarted their running game and forced Luther North into 22 turnovers. The guys shot the ball very well going 59% from the field (37-62) and 44% from the 3 point line (7-16). Tim Streets (2), Eric Albaugh, Tim Rusthoven, Brian Pell, and Jonathan Burdett (2), all knocked down 3's. It was a great team effort as 12 players scored and the bench contributed 28 points.  The Warriors were lead by Tim Rusthoven's 27 points/12 rebounds/7 blocks and Anthony Ritchie's 15 points. The win puts the team at 10-4 overall and 4-0 in conference. The guys continue their travels tonight playing their 5th game in a row on the road against rival Saint Francis.

Boys Earn Win before California Trip

The Warriors defeated Chicago Christian on Friday night 62-47. The win was the 8th on the season for the Warriors and moved them to a perfect 3-0 in the Private School League. Next week the boys will be in California and will play Mt. Carmel on Wednesday and Oaks Christian on Saturday. Read Chicago Tribune Article.

After 2 weeks from their last game, the Warriors opened up the second part of the season with a home game against West Chicago High School. The Warriors started out strong, jumping out to a double digit lead early in the second half. The Wildcats chipped away at the lead, and with just over 2 minutes left in the game caught took the lead 42-41. Tim Rusthoven led the Warriors with 20 points and Anthony Ritchie scored 15 as Wheaton Academy fell to West Chicago 49-46. The Warriors will next be playing on Friday at Chicago Christian.

The boys baksetball team was playing at the Lisle shooutout Saturday afternoon, and ran into a tough Chicago Hope team. In the end, the Warriors fell to the Mighty Eagles, 70-68 in overtime. Tim Rusthoven matched his career high of 37 points that he set opening night, however, the Warriors missed a combined 11 free throws in the 4th quarter. Read the Daily Herald Article. The Warriors played in front of a large crowd at Wheaton College, came out and defeated the Falcons of Wheaton North 73-44 on Tuesday night. The Warriors played extremely well during the first half, and built up a 20+ point lead by halftime. Tim Rusthoven scored a game high 19 points. Read the Daily Herald Article.

Wheaton Academy had a convincing 56-35 win over Illiana Christian on the 
road in the PSL conference opener for both 
teams. WA played stifling defense holding their opponents to 26% shooting from the field (10-38) while silencing the large home crowd that came out to watch the Vikings in their first home game of the season.  The Warriors broke the game open with an 18 point third quarter as Rusthoven rattled off 12 third quarter points to give the Warriors a 42-28 lead going into the fourth.  WA was led by Tim Rusthoven's 18 points/7 rebounds/6 blocks. Quinn Gorski contributed 9 points. The Warriors are 5-1 and will be back in action on Tuesday night, December 9th,  at Wheaton College against Wheaton North HS at 7:30 pm.

The Warriors, playing in their first game since losing against Walther Lutheran last Saturday, came out with a purpose against Lisle. The boys, playing at home, defeated the Lions 57-26. After starting off cold the first 4 minutes, the Warriors started attacking the basket and hitting their outside shots. Tim Rusthoven led the Warriors with 14 points and 7 blocks, while Eli Nupanga added 10 points.

In a wild setting at the Warriordome on Friday night, the Warriors came out and clinched the Thanksgiving Tournament by defeating Wheaton-Warrenville South 50-42. Quinn Gorski hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer at the end of the first quarter to get the Warriors out strong. The Tigers stayed in it, and led during the third quarter. At the beginning of the 4th quarter with the Warriors down by 1, Anthony Ritchie scored two buckets that shifted the momentum in favor of the Warriors. Ritchie finished with 16 points, and Tim Rusthoven led the Warriors with 20 points and 4 blocks.

The Boys Varsity Basketball Team moved to 2-0 with a victory over Leyden High School on Tuesday night. The game featured a lot of lead changes early on and the game remained within 5 points until the 4th quarter, when the Warriors made some clutch shots and made free throws down the stretch. The Varsity Team will play on Friday night against Wheaton Warrenville South in "White-Out" night at the Warrior Dome.

The Boys Varsity Basketball Team opened the season with a 68-59 victory over Streamwood. Tim Rusthoven led the Warriors with 37 points on 13 for 14 shooting from the foul line. The Warriors started out slowly, falling behind Streamwood 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, with Rusthoven scoring all 8 first quarter points. The 3rd quarter is where Wheaton Academy caught and passed Streamwood, outscoring the Sabres 18-5 in the quarter. Anthony Ritchie chipped in with 9 points in the third quarter, and 13 for the game. The tournament continues Tuesday with the Freshman and Sophomore teams playing Aurora Christian and the Varsity team playing
